Why can't we please use a better scoring system for solo/duo queue?
I've been playing league since Caitlyn's release week, I've enjoyed this game for quite some time and really like how game design and progression is coming along, gj riot. I am not a great player, like some, but the past two seasons I've performed more than well in provisional matches on garbage teams and gotten placed in Bronze3 and Bronze 4 in both seasons. I solo, it's what I do when playing ranked. I am, admittedly, sometimes the player with the bad score on my team for whatever reason that day, but most days, I'm trying my hardest to get good ganks for my laners (I jungle mostly), try to counter jungle at appropriate times, go for objectives and drive my team towards those goals. I can't escape bronze to save my sanity. Those first few seasons I played, I could see my scores improving, my team fight knowledge increasing, and it reflected in my position in the ladder(teetering on gold, I know, I'm a baddie). Why do we still give the winning/losing team big ups or big drops in lp in SOLO when an individual may do very well in a game and lose, while the rest of the team drags and falters, flames and complains, feeds on purpose and all that?
The community was in much better team spirits three to four seasons ago when the common thought was 'My good games will outweigh the bad ones, so my wins will outweigh my losses'. This concept used to be accepted by everyone as a general rule, you play well, you promote. In those times, ranked solo matches usually had on average ( in bronze/silver) one person new to ranked, one person better than the others on the team, one trashbag emo wrist-slashy feeder, and another two people capable enough to help the 'good' player win. The one bad egg did not drag the whole team down, the power of the other 4 staying positive won games, period. The capable players landed in gold and silver, the better-than-the-rest players climbed into plat and higher, the trashy feeder stayed in bronze, the concept seemed to work well.
The last two seasons, be it through popularity and an increase in numbers in the player base, or in massive frustration over whatever changes in the game cause poor play and attitudes, the paradigm has shifted. Now in bronze and silver, if you solo, you may be screwed all the way around. Now more matches have toxic players in them. Instead of the one player on every team kinda messing it up, you have three of them on every team it seems. So in my experience, the average player, has a snowballs chance in hell of winning enough games to get out of elo hell and truly learn against better players unless they duo/flex their way out of the dungeon.
The system for scoring your individual performance in a match that gets you faster mastery levels with a champ seems like a fairly accurate system for determining your skill level in a match. Why can't we please implement that scoring system to solo/duo? I feel bad for an enemy when I win a match on one of the less toxic teams and a real good player performed great and loses. I feel even worse when I'm that player. Solo queue should be just that, a system that scores you based on performance first, win or loss AFTER. If an individual plays a great game, makes good decisions, cs well and somehow hold a good k-d ratio on a losing team they shouldn't lose 19 LP just like the guy who went 2-19. It's just horrible. Please do something that makes sense to fix this? Please tell me there are ideas being kicked around to help? Not everyone has C9 or SKT to help them get out of the lower ranks and at least into a tier on the ladder where the other players have similar skill level, temperament, and drive to win. BUT I'm the average player, we go unnoticed and tossed for whatever reason, our concerns about the state of the game often ignored. We are the majority of your player base, most of us will never climb above gold, but the patient and positive players down here are losing faith in the ranked experience these days. We will likely become the toxic players in the future. I've already stopped watching LCS matches because I never see players like that at my level, I never will. I play against total chaos in every match, I'd rather quit the game altogether than to become one of 'those' players.......
HALP US RITO!!!
