Sona: Change up the chords?

The problem that i guess Riot is seeing so far with Sona is that her burst is highly uncounterable at level 1. They want to open up more options for Sona to use damage, heals, and speed.

However, the trouble with that is that with Sona, there will never be an optimal way to do so that won't involve one skill becoming "too powerful" or having her not played at all.

But. What if we changed up the chords?

For example: Q+ E chord: You get the poke from Q and the slow that lets your team know that you're ready to engage. But it's not so much damage that it's hard to counter. **W+ Q chord: ** A bit of poke and a bit of heal. Not much of either. "Time to heal up and poke down a bit to let them know we mean business." E+ W chord: Speedup + damage reduction. This one could mean either: "Okay, I've cut their damage, let's get out of here and hope we live" or "We need to catch that guy. I'm going to reduce the damage on this person so we can chase that guy."

Not only would a change like this give some more incentive to level other skills than just the damage ones, it works with several different playstyles and forces people to make choices. "Do i want to have the poke on the chord? Or do I want to go fast? Or can i live with just poking with autoattacks and Q until I get another spell?"

It would also get rid of that pesky "uncounterable" level 1 burst that is so worrisome.

I think the two aura chords you propose are too complicated. Can you imagine writing the tooltips? =D

I think a change to Q power chord would be a good idea. It's gone from double damage, to +50% damage, to +40% damage, and it's still the power chord everyone uses. Let's make it a utility button instead. I think it'd play pretty well with a silence effect, for example.

I think another way to help encourage Sona to do things other than max Q first would be to shift power on her Q and W a bit.

Think Q with slightly less base damage and very slight scaling increase to compensate.

W could use a base numbers increase, and shifting power away from its scaling to compensate.

Even just the W change in power could give Sona a reason to max W over Q about as much as she would the reverse.

The idea here would be to smooth out her power curve a bit.
