Normal Game MMR

I still think of myself as a silver player. My main, taketomatoeboi, I finally got it to Gold V for the first time. While this smurf account I use, which is silver 4 in flexq. I play a lot of normals on this account, recently I have been placed against more golds and plats than usual. When I play with a friend I still get those players and he gets destroyed by them, his name is legendguy12345. Note: I don't usually carry, I just split push or something. How does the normal game mmr work? It just feels like I am starting to rank up and not what I usually think of normal games as, fun and easy/going even. There would be a team that clearly wins now, there is no comeback.
