Why is no one playing Aurelion Sol?
Usually when a new champ is out everyone scrambles in normals to first pick him, but I've been in more than a few bot and normal games where no one bothers picking him. What gives?

he is what people call, a mage that uses AP.... and they aren't in the greatest shape yet....
He's not that strong. Same issue as Ekko and Illaoi, too much counterplay to his kit. He does damage at a very specific range, and has to be able to stay in that range. His DPS isn't amazing either. He does damage, but the time between passive hits is too inconsistent to pick him for damage output.
He's weak.
He needs shyvana's defensive passive since their both dragons amirite?
All his trade potential is in his W and stars. Currently you just need to sneeze at him to counter his stars.
Any displacement will deactivate his W.
Silence, Blind, Displacement, Stun, fear, suppression will all deactivate his W (where his damage is)
Fear, Stun, Suppression (and maybe silence) will turn his stars off all together.
His inner Dead zone "melee" is to easy to get into and stay because he has no slows and his E bonus speed is a joke.
They need to remove the "ramp up" of his E and just let him use it when it is off CD no matter what. It is his ONLY way to escape.
Because he requires too much knowledge about positioning to be played more often.

He is AP and right now AP is in a bad spot.
A psuedotank with no reliable cc or mobility is not going to perform very well with assassins EVERY FUCKING WHERE
In my short experience, he's a little underwhelming in lane. As Lissandra I easily walked pasted the majority of his Q's and he wasn't able to use his W effectively enough to push me out of lane. At level 4 I got one good gank and he couldn't recover. Post laning phase hes alright as he gets tankier, but before hes more of a defensive sitting duck.

I play him and now main him. TIER 5 SOL. People need to understand this guy is a TANK NOT FULL AP!
Riot said that anyone that can get inside his stars can easily fk him up unless he has ult.

Why do people keep saying the stuff? I play him in ranked NON-stop hes my new main given my obsession with dragons (name even means dragon)
I've played like 10 games all wins. With scores like 15/2, 9/2, 10/2
Peeps just aint got my dragon blood to play him. XD 
Because, while he is strong, he isn't the usual freelo new release champ.
He is too easily countered in the current meta. I want to play him, I REALLY DO, but when I did play him, I was countered with a Zed, Talon, Fizz, etc.
He takes too much skill. I only play NO-SKILL point-click champs for security, and when the enemy gets behind, the enemy STAYS behind!!
because he has to mach counters i am level7 mastery in sol i main him i have alot of problems with zed,lux,kassadin,fiddlesticks,xerath some peoples say yasuo counter aurelion sol but he is not counter aurelion sol can counter yasuo by the deff and the hell damage yasuo can guard your q but you can hit him with your w and ult if you have zed in the lane put exaust or barrier
He's tricky to play (probably why most players don't like him), and several mage items got nerfed in their 'update'. He has a good design with clear strengths & weaknesses, but unfortunately riot hasn't addressed those who don't; and subsequently counter him easily.
Hopefully we see more, I need practice actually laning against him.

I am. Frickin' love this champ. Know that I actually know what I'm doing, I'm doing pretty well with him.

hes permad in diamond, sooo.
I play him whenever I can. but he is fairly weak once you get inside his orbit.
I dont think he has a bad kit just a lil weak and very defensive. His q is like anivias in that u wait for them to play qggro then q w. Aftee that u can usually chase them with w or passive and win trades or jill them. Also if u play against a mobile champ u ult them into w range then chain with q. That will always result in a kill.
I tried him last night and found him pretty underwhelming. The only satisfying thing I found to do on him was the E -> Q combo. Outside of that I just didn't find him fun. That's just my personal opinion though, I'm sure some people like him fine.
