Name change is wayyyyyy too expensive

Summoner name change sale

I feel like the name change is way too expensive(1300 RP). It's no quite fair for new players to realize in the future, they need to use Rp to change their summoner name. 1300 RP is already $10 down the drain.....Which in many cases, if ur a elementary or high school student who likes to game, is way too much money to spend. I've know friends who have spent HUNDREDS just to change their summoners names. I hope this message will at least try to convince you to have a sale for our new 2018th year, just like how you did for 2014's year. [sg-kiko] [slayer-jinx-catface]

You dont have to use RP to change your name.

Starsaber2221 votes

Well, Im sure many people don't have as much time as people who are being paid to play league, they have work, studies, homework, assignments, etc. to earn so much blue essences.

anyone who argued to keep the price as is works for riot, you should post this on rededit nobody comes here anymore.

Pretty sure IP can also be used, and not sure why people need to change their name that much.

Starsaber2222 votes

I've already answered that and many people who started playing games, are starting to want to have the same gaming name on all of their games they own.

Riot shouldn't have to make it easier for peoples' poor planning. If you were naming all of your accounts different things, that is an individual's problem. If you do not have enough IP or cannot afford RP, then quite honestly you are probably not playing this game enough for it to be a big deal. And if you do not have enough IP or cannot afford RP, then you probably don't have enough champs, that you can just scrap your account and start a new one with the right name without losing a whole lot.

Starsaber2221 votes

Its not rlly poor judgement, more like... Riot didn't make it clear enough...

If I suddenly want to change my name to something better I shouldn't have to fucking buy a name change. Most other games aren't like this.

One, NO SWEARING, two, thats y riot should decrease the amount for name changes, CAUSE FOR MOST GAMES U DON'T NEED MONEY FOR NAME CHANGE!

I will swear as much as I want, I'm Australian.

But yeah, they definitely to adjust the price to be more reasonable, like 8k-10k Blue essence. Since Blue essence is incredibly hard to come by nowadays.

Starsaber2222 votes

Well, Im not Australian, so I don't rlly appreciate it XD.

true, most games would have you create an entirely new account or put you into this massive queue of people waiting to get a name change and if your name got taken then you are SoL

Not at all actually. I can change my name whenever I want in Steam, Pokemon Showdown and any fighting game.

The only reason the name change costs RP/IP is because Riot wants more money than they can line their pockets with. That's all there is to it.

steam... i didn't knew steam was a game. Fighting games are also console games... so it doesn't matter much of anything you can have the same name than 50 million other people there and nobody would notice... and are you really using a game that is more than likely not even officially made by gamefreak and is more than likely a fan game? Every single actual PC MMO type of game you cannot change your name that easily

Yes, because most MMOs want to squeeze money out of you.

Steam is technically a game since your steam name appears in-game. Fighting games are NOT just console games :) Yes, a fan game which is extremely popular and allows you to change your name on the go for free.

The only reason why official games require you to pay $$$ for a name change is because they want to exploit money out of you.

steam is not a game, i am sorry to burst your bubble. I have no idea of any other fighting games that aren't consoles or arcade games and arcade games you really aren't putting your name for anything other than a highscore so if you want to count that then by all means.

a fan game that also cannot make a single cent because if they do they will instantly get shut down and sued so hard that they are going to be slaves of gamefreak and nintendo. There is a reason why they don't charge you for changing your name... not that it would matter anyways.

I am sorry but you have not given me a single actual example yet. Unless you really want to count arcade fighting games and you putting your 3 letter name as your highscore

BlazBlue, UMvC3, Killer Instinct, Super Smash Bros. (on Dolphin, technically in the same boat), Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Dead or Alive, Mortal Kombat and Injustice aren't fighting games on the PC?

Showdown can make money for existing since they have a legal contract with Nintendo.

Steam allows you to change your name whenever you want FOR FREE.

Also, I haven't even mentioned arcade games as my examples so please stop trailing off.

oh look, all of them are also on consoles... and a mod of something else... great!

Steam still isn't a game, i don't care if it let's you change your name for free, it's still not a game. I can change my name on skype or discord to whatever i want that doesn't make them games.

Oh they do? good for them! at least they did one thing right and i bet it all goes to nintendo anyways.

Regardless, it is a game where the name doesn't mean crap. Who cares what your name is in Street Fighter? Steam is a client that has a different way of IDing the person involved. Most MMO games it is not that simple. Usually you have to delete a character and make a new one to get a new name.

^^This. Most games with massive server counts, especially where game identity is part of the structure take quite a bit to change names. And comparing a client with a game is not equivalent. Steam is a client, not a game. A lot of the other games mentioned, the name doesn't matter. With that said, I do think it is a money thing for them, but this is a business for them to make money. I do not blame them.

Steam lets multiple people use the same exact name, just with a hidden ID, and so does Blizzard's client. In this case it doesn't matter when and to what people change their name.

In LoL, every name is unique. People can't change their name willy-nilly because it will interfere with other people's names. It's not the same.

Ok, then maybe it's time for a change :)

Starsaber2221 votes

That wouldn't rlly make sense....Champs are wayyyyy more cheaper, even in IP, which means they are much easier to get. U can also get champs from crates, that they give u when u play

Apparently Noob1 votes

You don't need to change your name. It's not even all that important. The option is there if you have the money, but otherwise if you think $10 is too expensive then it's not for you. What else can be said?

Starsaber2222 votes

This is true, but don't u think 10$ is a bit overpriced? I mean, u can spend it on a huge lunch...

Apparently Noob1 votes

Then you should have thought a little harder at name select. Each name has to be unique, so switching your name interferes with other people if you were able to change it so often.

Starsaber2221 votes

Dude....I answered that already......

If you're an elementary kid playing league then we already have problems. I think you have to be 13 to even create an account if I remember the Terms of Service correctly.
