compare LOL to KOG - why more player in china play the later nowadays
A brief introduction: KOG is a MOBA game in China played on mobile phone. Both LOL & KOG have the common shareholder - Tencent Co. so so far no legal dispute between LOL & KOG.
KOG did copied a lot of LOL. For example, KOG cham Arthor is somehow identical to Garen; Zhou Yu = Xin Zhou; Same Wukong, etc.
However, KOG did has some improvement over LOL. The most important one is that so far the mobility creep is less horrible in KOG
There are some very mobile champion in KOG, but unlike Zed / Yasuo / Fizz who can become totally untargetable. The major problem in LOL so far is that there are some champions have high damage, high mobility & be untargetable, which make some zone control magen like Anivor, Karth or Heimerdinger unplayable.
I still miss s1 and s2 when champions skill set are very simple. Some players may think this is boring, but if you ever try KOG you will find that this is actually fun: less focus on ridiculous finger speed makes the game more tactical.
In KOG they adjust the meta a bit: an assassin must be present in a team as a jungler or it will be very likely to lose.
So different kinds of players can enjoy the games together in KOG:
- AD / AP: generally, medium finger speed but good skill shot
- Jungle: very fast finger speed
- Tank / Support: finger speed is less essential but good tactical mind needed
Rather than remaking the so-called outdated cham, LOL should focus on nerfing mobility & untargetable creep.
