Pending Diana Rework and her Foil to Leona

There is a rework incoming for Diana in the near future and from what I've read in previews Riot aims to turn Diana from her Assassin Bruiser style into a flat out bruiser champions which I feel should not be the case for a few reasons. Her main play style, and her concept as Leona's opposite and Rival.

Play style: What do most plays do with Diana? They build her into an assassin style champion with some bulk due to her lack of escape, so items like RoA, Lich Bane, Abyssal, Zhonyas, etc... giving her a good blend of burst and livablity. However due to sitting between niches she is an all or nothing kinda champ, go all in and wreck face or get wrecked. Most assassins in the game have some form of escape build into their kits be it a stealth (Akali, Talon), a teleport (Zed, LeBlanc, Katarina), crazy move speed (Master Yi), a untargetability ability (Fizz), dashes or something else to keep them safe after they have bursted a target . Diana has two options slaughter everything, or make sure to always reset her R and then use it on a jungle camp or creep to get out (not very reliable). Yes she has a shield to sponge damage too but it in most cases will be part of the burst and expire shortly after ur done with your kill. Some (very few) play her tank as well which she can kinda do with her E to disrupt teams and her R for sticking to the carries but its less effective. Most people use her as an assassin so why not emphasize that?

Leona Foil Leona : This is more of a lore based argument so please bear with it. Leona is a support tank, she has massive CC and is able to bulk out a ton of hits while boosting allied damage with her passive. Shes selfless and mainly just protects her allies. Diana is meant to be a direct foil to this, so what is the opposite of bulky, noisy, selfless paragon of defense? A sleek, fierce assassin that snakes around defenses and just outputs a ton of damage while getting themselves out mostly home free, prioritizing nothing but the kill. In which she kinda fits this now due to her play style of dive in and rip em apart or die trying albeit less so as she is not subtle or stealthy in her attempts to get her kills, she charges in and takes them down. The other argument for Assassin Diana is what she is, she is the chosen of the moon, the overseer of the night, a time for quiet, sneaking, and assassination (yes im really pushing the Assassin Diana) vs Leona which is the chosen of the sun, the big bright lively sun that brings about the busy bustle of the day and is hard to go unnoticed.

Changes Ideas: I know Riot has some plans but I feel if this thread gets enough publicity they may listen and steer Diana to where we, the players, what her to be. I am going to list a few ideas I have for making Diana a better assassin, pick them apart, I don't care but try and be constructive, post your own ideas, up vote the ones that are good and viable so we have have our lovely Moon Assassin.

Passive: The passive as it stands is really strong due to the AoE Lich Bane effect, however due to the method of charging (two AAs) and how Diana loses them quickly, reducing her engagement window, I feel it would be good to let her either sit on her passive like Aatrox can do with his W AA, or make it similar to the Lich Bane, in that it will trigger on spell use then remain for a long duration (maybe indefinitely) until an AA is used. This would reduce the "wind up" time Diana needs to get a big burst off quickly.

Q: I like Q as is, only thing I would change is maybe make Moonlight last a little longer and maybe interact with her other spells in some way shape or form

W: I have no clue what to do with this one, I like the pale cascade visuals and the shield is a good idea but its too bruisery for an assassin. W I think should be some form of either escape spell or something to help secure kills but I'm unsure how. Maybe make it so the Orbs slow on detonate or something?

E: I like Moonfall but I don't like Moonfall, its great displacement and great in AoE team comps but its not great in how it makes u the literal center of attention, and its your only "escape" spell (because slow). I think moonfall should be an area targetable spell that slows in an area, and pulls into the center & BRIEFLY stuns, that way Diana can still use it how she does now, on top of herself if thats what you want or use it to set up kills vs as a securing mechanic. The other thing I think it should do is largely due to the visuals of it, its much larger than its actual effect area so why not use the entire area for something? Make it so that should one target in Moonfall have Moonlight upon them, it spreads to all others in the area. This doesn't seem significant now but my R change ideas make it so.

R: Ah Lunar Rush, the awesome spell with the really tacky name. Its a great gap closer due to its speed and good damage, however the biggest issue with it is how gated it is by either Q's CD or its own. This is why I think it should not strip the Moonlight debuff from all targets instead just consume from the target struck, as well allow it to affect friendly units (Moonlight that is) similar to many other dashes in the game (Jax, Katarina). The mechanic would be that allied units can be struck and should you jump to one of them the Moonlight is removed from all allied units, while if it hits a hostile it will only be removed from the target hit. To mitigate this from becoming a Yasuo style issue, I propose making the CD 2-3 seconds when used on a Moonlight target vs 0. That way she can get in, burst and get out while still adding counter play due to the CD window.

Those are my ideas personally, feel free to twist them, post your own, etc... I just want to ensure that everyone will be able to actually use Diana outside norms after the rework is through. Thanks for reading

I would rather her "as is" because after Cass, Sion, Lb, and Talon, Skarner, Olaf, and Eve, I do not fully trust Riot and there reworks. There have been a few good ones though I will not lie. But the ratio of bad too good works against Riot. Assuming she still feels the same thematically, and does not feel disappointing to use, then I'd like her to be a fighter. And not a 1 offensive item, rest tank fighter. A real mixture of offensive and defensive item fighter (need that fighter rework badly though). I like the shield, and how it draws a similarity to Leona's shield, but is still different in function. Where Leona's is purely defensive (that small explosion when it ends is there just to be there) Diana's is more damage oriented. This leads me to rather he be a fighter, as no assassin should have a shield. I find it barely ok that Kat gets % damage reduction only because her ult is a channel.
