Matey, don't worry about the Rank displayed it means fuck all. MMR is what determines who you are matched with/against and how much lp you gain/lose per game.
So, don't worry about rank at all. All you need to do is have a good winrate and you will climb.
P.S. If you was silver last season, it's only natural to be placed to bronze so you have a "sense of accomplishment" when you get back to silver, at least according to riot that's why. If from silver you were placed to silver then it's like season never changed. Placements are not meant to make you advance rank. Even with 10-0 placements on a fresh account (without your past silver MMR) you won't end up in gold 1-plat 4 like in the older seasons.

Bronze 2 is the new Silver 2. Atleast in promo's for you. I believe that you will gain LP a lot faster until you level with your original rating.

My ranked games right now are just horrible too many trolls.
The irony being that it doesn't matter how well you play, control objectives, or participate in fights, only whether or not you win. Every Challenger will tell you to main one or two champs to climb, but Riot will tell you to switch it up and play an unfamiliar role every few games. There are so many tools and applications that track all kinds of metrics. To me, it would make sense to give LP based on your performance, not just the end result. That way when you go 19/2/14 and got all the dragons and towers, but lost anyway, it won't sting quite as bad.
This years placements are a huge joke. Congrats though for your 9 wins i was gold 2 last year and now i was placed silver 4 and promoted to 3 but 70% of my games are crap full of feeders and low players below silvers division. rip logic riot
tell me about it won 9/10 of my placements got placed Silver 2, i have a current 92.3% win rate this season.
I won 1/10 was S1 end of season (G4 in preseason) and I got B1
Riots "System" is doing it again.
My teams are 90% of the time Me and one other person and 3 complete Feeders vs a team of Good players.
Im still gaining more LP then losing but Riots "System" is making SURE most of my games are a loss by stacking the Deck.
I won 2/10 did really well got gold 4...Had to make a new account because getting gold 4 is literally impossible to play.
Second account got 7/10 got placed silver 2.

Riot "tweeked" placements this season. They purposely place you 1.5 to 2 whole leagues below your ending ranks from the end of last season. They "feel", you should earn your rank, not be placed back into the ranks you earned last time. Yet they put no limitations on new players. So yeah. Welcome to true ello hell, where the ranking system has not been this bad since the game first launched rank.
Yeah they changed this one up pretty bad this year. Since it was 8 games last year cause of positional ranks, I feel switching it back to 10 games shifted everything over. One game last year placed me in Silver II where I've been for years, one game this year placed me back in Bronze IV.
Then I even saw several high ranks and pros going from Challenger down to low gold. They really need to fix that, since most of them would start high plat.
I hit plat4 last season. The placements started me in silver2. Boy, that fucking pissed me off.
