The Difference Between Silver and Gold players.
Season 5 has ended, you look at your League account and sigh. Your dreams of a victorious skin and a nice shiny gold border, are crushed. You can't eat, you can't sleep, your manhood won't rise and shine.
Okay, so maybe it's not that bad. Season 6 is coming up, another season another chance for you to finally taste victory. As someone who has gone from Bronze V to Gold IV with Gold 2 - plat MMR on two accounts I can tell you that the:
THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SILVERS AND GOLDS LIES IN DECISION MAKING, TEAM COHESION IN THE MID - LATE GAME, AND ATTITUDE.
If you don't like reading I will summerise my observations of why you're stuck in silver to one simple sentence.
**If your mechanics are gold, but your decision making and game knowledge are bronze, you are silver. **
For example, I was playing a game of Lucian in silver the other day, we were completely smashing the enemy team. We took down the middle inhibitor with 3 of the enemy champs dead, with about a 40 second respawn timer. Baron had around a 1 minute timer on it. I called, back, then top to push and for baron control. For some reason, my team decided to run through the enemy jungle to their base, then run back to push bot. This resulted in the enemy team taking baron, and with the nice buff, eventually win the game. In fact, most of my games in silver are not lost during the early-mid game, but thrown due to poor TEAM decision making (generally post 20).
The attitude in silver is HORRENDOUS. Seriously. Even worse than Bronze (with the exception of B5) at least bronze players know they're bad, and are willing to improve. Silver players, in general have decent mechanics, but the decision making of a t-rex on acid, and the attitude of a 50 year old steroid junkie. Games are lost because players argue for a good 30 minutes over one or two silly mistakes. It's almost as if no one knows that a mute button exists.
Gold players are much more like bronze players in this aspect. We know that while we have a solid foundation in mechanics and decision making, there is MUCH room for improvement if we want to get to a higher tier.
