Since Bard has been out for a few weeks.

What are your opinions of him? Have we seen him played enough to understand him? Will buffing him be like buffing Gnar the patch after his release?

I personally think Bards a bit underwhelming. The buffs on the PBE dont really address his issues from my experience with him. As of right now his changes are:

Base damage increased to 52 from 46 Damager per level growth increased to 3.5 from 3 Base armor increased to 25 from 21 Travel's Call (Passive) Meeps: A new meep appears every 10 down from 12 Traveler's Call (Passive) Chimes: mana restore changed to 12% max mana from (8% missing mana + 15)

I believe Bards problem lies in his passive and Q. His Q is a bit too wide. Its rather difficult to Q someone behind a group of minions because his Q will attach to an adjacent minion, rather than the target behind the minion initially struck. His Q is also insanely slow, I couldnt find its actual speed on the wiki. If feels to me like its about the speed of Nami's ult, which is about 900~. Decreasing his Q width and increasing its speed is my proposal.

Now Bards passive is a bit tricky, I wanna get those chimes for some Meep game. But the set 20xp, % missing mana and stacks to his passive are not really worth leaving your ADC alone. I think making his passive give 50% of current minions (the spawning or the last wave spawned) xp would probably be enough of a change to make hunting down those chimes worth it.

Any thoughts?

Edit: With my suggested changes, i dont think he would need the current changes

He isn't someone you should blindly pick. Its super easy to make Bard completely useless simply by picking Thresh Leona against him. Since leaving your AD carry alone in a 2v1 lane with either of those 2 is a free death for your carry.

He should also only be picked in a situation when your carry can play safely for a minute while you chime collect. Ezreal is my personal favorite matchup with Bard.

His kit is unique and has tons of potential, but nobody really figured it out yet. (Plus he kinda sucks at the moment)

Right now i have no motive to ever leave lane, itll just set me behind in levels. The chimes that spawn in lane are enough to help sustain. Giving a scaling amount of xp would help me want to take the risk of entering the enemies jungle to gather those 30 chimes that decided to spawn under their fountain.

His chimes suck dick, and his ult Takes to long to activate (cast / travel (missile) speed)

Do you think Riot intended for his ult to be used reactively or actively?

I dont think riot thought about delay times and how long it takes for ba(r)d's ult to reach the targeted destination.

I agree with this. It's just like Ziggs bomb, very tough to land from far away. Feel like it should move faster since it doesn't do any damage.

Think about how much larger ziggs bomb is aswell... Bard needs to hit his Ult on the dot or else its completely wasted, theres no after effect or slowing that lingers in the aoe its gone. completely gone.

I've tried to block a ezreal ult with it once. He was standing between the bot lane bushes and i was just outside the golem bushes on blue side. i threw my ult as his ult left him and the flight time was too long. I was ulting myself.

Extremely OP when his team is ahead. Almost useless when his team is behind.

Going to make this quick since I'm using an ipad and screw typing on this thing.

I like him. Lots of fun and makes a lot of interesting plays possible. I think he can still be useful even when behind, so long as the ENTIRE team isn't. Let's face it, no support is worth a damn when everyone is having a bad game.

I very much agree with you about his q. Maybe not the width part of it but definitely the missile speed. It's way slower than it should be.

I usually leave meeps for collection until it's time to back or on my way back to lane. The ones close to lane are easy to get while there. Just get the further ones before or after the back.

Yeah i leave my chimes in the jungle to build up and gather them as i get back into lane. they last 10 minutes, maybe that was an alternative riot intended for bard. I think thats the way to do it though. only gather chimes that appear in lane otherwise leave em and get them when youre going back to lane from a recall or death

I'll keep it short. His kit is underwhelming since he pretty much has two abilities that people can possibly use outside of imitating what they saw in the champ spotlight (Looking at you MJ), and one of them puts everything in stasis.

I don't like people putting me in stasis as I engage as sejuani or amumu.

In conclusion, enemy picks him? Freelo. Someone picks him on my team? Dodge.

Bard is a bad champion. He's fun, different, and refreshing, but the range on his q combined with its unreliability in lane make him worthless in comparison to other supports. They basically made a roamer with no gank potential because he's never going to cc anyone with his q, and pre6 because his ult does no damage, utilizing it to land a kill whichout a third party is usually just depriving ur adc in lane. He should be a high skill cap roamer who requires a bit more understanding and game sense to master, but that's not what he is, he is weak. Sona's empowered q hits harder that all 3 stacks of bards passive combined, name has better heals and cc, alistar better heals presence and cc, thresh better cc utility... my shaco support is better than bard... I agree with your points on his q and passive, they need to have more ingame presence.
