Diana R-Q Combo
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is about Dianas R-Q(-R) combo. It is NOT about Dianas Q-R-(R) combo - please read into. As I already twittered @RiotSupport, they adviced me to address the issue at the Gameplay Board. You are able to follow my initial tweet(s) in the link attached to this thread.
Yet, let me clarify the issue. I am for most parts of the year an high Masters EUW player since 2015. I mention that, as I feel it is an indicator that I understand League of Legends and its mechanics fairly well. I understand, that it takes time to master a champion. I do get, that there are champions, that need a player to put more effort into, mostly mechanically, to have greater success. The tradeoff mostly is, that the learning curve is higher, means it takes longer to learn a champion and all its mechanics, but once mastered, that champion will grant a player a larger variety of gameplay options - at the end an higher elo (we could go into detail here, but that is the short explaination). So what about Diana? Diana has multiple combinations in her kit. Most of us know, that she is granted an Ultimate (R) reset, once she lands her Moonsilver Blade (Q) on a target, and Rs on that same target afterwards. She also does have some interactions with E - R or E- Flash, active items and a lot of more combos. But that is not what this is about.
The main issue is, that Diana has one mechanic, the R - Q (-R) Combo. You have to stay EXACTLY on the maximum range of your R to a target, then cast R - press Q right afterwards and it will cast the Q at the end of the R animation. You are granted a R reset. If you do not stand on that one small spot of the R max range to a target, the animation of RQ still looks similar, but you won`t receive an R reset. You may think "aight bro, just go and l2p Diana". But in fact, even SDiana2, after playing nearly 10.000 Games of Diana, Challenger NA OTP, can NOT guarentee a 100% hitrate. Yes, he will most likely make that combo work 9/10 times after such an great amount of effort into Diana only gameplay, but yet not 100% accurate. For me, it feels unsatisfying to be aware, that the champion I am learning has a mechanic, that I will not be able to make use of, nor being able to train as the risk of failing it is too high. As I said: i do like to put effort into mechanics in order to master them, but this does not seem to be worth. Is there a way, to increase the accuracy/ reliabilty of this combination while not making it too simple, but also not as difficult as its current state?
PS: I am not a native English speaker, apologies for spelling mistakes/ grammatics.
