Too hard to obtain new champions when you just joined the game(?)

Hi everyone who decides to read this, I usually played on EUNE where my main account is, but since I moved to England I decided to create an EUW account and have two, to play with friends from both servers. However, with the way the new system works being a new player is the least enjoyable thing ever. The main problem I have currently is the fact that even though there is a free rotation which is very nice, obtaining champions for yourself from anywhere else than loot chests is just almost impossible if they cost 6300 or even 4800 To gain that many blue essence you need to complete a lot of quests (you don't gain blue essence through levelling up or winning games) which usually still give you only around 100 blue essence. To buy Ahri it took me a month of disenchanting other champions from loot and completing the rare quests, and now that even the first win of the day quest disappeared (which is disappointing), I'm not sure how I will get any other champions on this account.

Does anyone feel the same or is it just me? Are there any easier way to obtain blue essence that I simply don't know of? For now, this issue must be very frustrating and off putting for any new players who decide to join the game, which is a shame. Thanks for reading :3

You overall get champs faster than with the old system. There are posts where they did all the math but im too lazy for that.

I believe you might get more champs overall, but most of them champs you didn't really care to own...

Not champions that you want

I find this truly hard to believe especially if you bought* the boosts. Maybe if you play 2 games or less a day

Think of it this way. Under the old system, you could expect to avg about 100 ip per game. SO, to get a 6300 champ, you had to play roughly 63 games. NOW...does it still feel slow?

Also,at least now we don't have to buy the runes <3*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

That is a good point.. Even though on old accounts I wouldn't buy runes until I had the champ pool I wanted.

I usually raise this point when people compare the systems, but that isn't the case here. He's just arguing that it (still) takes too long to buy new champions.

I have to play about 80 games now to straight up unlock a 6300be champ so ya, 17 games slower...

In the new system it takes like 20 games to level up a single time, less if you play like once a day for first win of the day. The max you can get for a level up is 1260, meaning at minimum you would have to level up 5 times for a 6300 champion, putting you at over 100 games or maybe like 50 games unless you really aren't playing at all basically. If you're not playing at all it'll still take you like a full month to level up that many times with first win bonuses.

I agree that you probably get champions faster overall than you used to, but that's only because you can enchant shards and those shards might not be for a character you want, especially if you want a 6300.

you level up a lot faster in lower leves

Starting at level 50, every 25 levels is the same ladder. So 50 is the same as 75 is the same as 100, and it ramps up until you are the level before those numbers. Levels 70-74 require so much XP and I'm starting to hit that point right now in the 90s. It's a grind mentality they want to use to make players buy characters, unfortunately.

It takes nowhere near 20 games to level up even at 50+

Well you can realistically gain an entire level and only get about 200 essences from it where as the old system no matter what if you did 5 games you would get at least 500 essences.

I am in the process of leveling another account to check for myself. Riot claims you get more champs. I don't doubt that, but what is the quality of the champs? I am not interested in 90% of the champs I get in a capsule. Sadly, melting those for BE is painful (about 700-900be/lvl) so you have to get 8 levels to buy one 6300be champ you WANT. If you happen to get a 6300 champ in the capsule, you need around 4kbe to be able to unlock it which is 5 levels. On my alt account, I am lvl 10 and have to play around 8-10 games to level it seems. That is a lot of games to get a champ you want. My last alt account I made had 23 champs I wanted by the time I hit 30. We will see how many champs I have on this new account when I hit 30. Right now, it isn't looking very promising..

I feel the same, even if mathematically proven that it is better than the other system, it is still incredibly slow, and I believe it needs to be changed. Depending completely on rng alone to gain BE is a bullshit system.

I feel like it's much faster for players who already have over level 30, but for those below who just started it feels too frustrating. I hope it will get changed or at least they will add more opportunities to gain blue essence.

It was never mathematically proven. The earn rate per game is slower unless you play one game per day. Given how pitiful the chest rewards are, you'll almost never find any premium shard

I agree with mostly everything you've said. But they need to keep champions expensive to encourage people buy RP,especially now that you can even get skins for nothing. An idea it would be to give new players a boost in Blue Essence around 20.000 to help them get the champions they really want to play and then work for other champions but this might make noobs play the game until they spend the early bonus.

No. The old system was fine, Riot doesn't need to get even more greedy.

fk the new BE system, what i want is the old champion Re-roll system, that thing was a beauty, no wonder riot burned it down, can't have good things around, for too long, smh. [zombie-nunu-tears]

It's actually way way faster if you just unlock them through upgrading the shards. Unfortunately, this doesn't really give you much choice as to which champs you want to unlock. It's slightly faster if you play a couple of games a day. It's slightly slower if you're a "binge player".

I have started the process of a new account too the other day. It does seem very slow as first win of the day doesn't seem to be on until level 15 I heard and in general Riot nerfed game to game xp in favor of fotd.

My new alt is level 10 and only has 2500 BE with a 3150 champion (I'm including the worth of the 2 shards I didn't dust yet but ignoring the little bit of lunar new year event extras). And it takes like 7 wins to level up. Maybe it's not too bad but getting a 6300 champ still wouldn't be possible under normal circumstances at that point. Wondering if it will accelerate when first win of the day comes around or will the exp req spike.

Does give you Brand for free though so that's not bad.

I've been leveling a new account to specifically play as Support, and I know what you mean. I've been starting to keep the champions from loot even though I DON'T WANT THEM because otherwise I won't have enough champions to play Ranked once I reach 30.

BobaFlautist1 votes

Keep in mind that switching from a main account to a Smurf is always going to be more painful in that regard than starting from scratch.

A newbie

  1. Doesn't have pre-existing attachments to 6300 champions, and can get by on cheaper ones for a very long time.
  2. Lacks the skill and the knowledge to properly take advantage of a large champion pool.
  3. Probably shouldn't be buying all that many champions that quickly in the first place. This game is hard enough to learn playing only 1-5 champs, if you play a different champion and role every game it's gonna be impossible.

Whereas you are used to playing a large pool of champions, were able to do so effectively, and specifically wanted some more expensive ones.

Now what could definitely be worth considering is better guiding players to champions that meet their personal play style/skill level - I've been playing for years and I still struggle to pick a new champion to learn.

I don't understand the sycophants who down vote people who complain about the IP nerf. Ya they got rid of the stat runes. They should've done that long ago. We don't need this loot boxes system, especially when you are almost guaranteed to get a bunch of trash shards every time you level. The new system is better if you play few games. When I grinded ranked to get gold in 3v3 before the end of last season I ended up with 50k ip. Sadly I trusted riot would've implemented a better system for us and wasted all my BE on chromas. I regret that now like crazy since I'm still missing a ton of champs. Mostly 4800+.

They did have that one blue essence champ sale but even there it was mostly cheap champs.

a lot of people here talking BS. After a level up you somtimes get 720 blue essences and some people really wanna tell me it is going faster than before? It is a joke how impossible it is to get some blue essences. It is just 100% slower than it was before.
