*HELP ME!

Hey

I started playing League around last summer and it is my first online game ever. I was really really bad but I got better so that I even won some games against people (:D). After my placement games I got placed bronze I after winning 4 out of 10 in S6. I am trying to rank up, but I'm a support main and EVERY SINGLE TIME I play, my adc shouts at me and says 'report this retard, one more time and I afk, I leave bot because the support sucks, delete the game, look at that support'... I'm a girl so I get told to' go back to the kitchen' a lot as well. It really destroys me mentally but I really love the game and want to get better. But I'm not good enough to just mute everyone because I need people to tell me where to go or to be careful when I don't realise.

If there is anyone who got a plan or experience on how to get better please tell me. I Know I have to keep practicing but I just want to make sure I don't make this take longer than it has to.

Thanks a lot! Every bit of help is highly appreciated! <3

Its morons on the internet. They dont mean anything and you shouldnt care about what they say

Car0line961 votes

Yeah I know... But if it's every single time and you can't even surprise them with a good ultimate or anything so you're just like trying to end this game and hope you get better soon to get out of bronze.

Tyrone Lannister1 votes

I feel ya. The reason why they flame is because they cant accept their own mistake. I climbed out of bronze twice and the thing i took from that is this. Focus on your own play. Focus on setting up kills for your ad and babysit them through the laning phase

Stop taking Ignite unless you're playing Blitzcrank, and only then do so if you're absolutely sure you can get kills with Blitz consistently. With Assassins going to be popular soon and because you die a lot in the games you do well meaning you need more defense, Exhaust is the better summoner than Ignite to use.

Zeke's is mostly entirely a snowball item. I highly suggest against buying it as early or as consistently as you do unless you are already ahead.

You need Sightstone. It grants health and wards which may curve your constant dying, and its generally your job as the support to take control of vision anyway.

Don't always build Mobi boots. Build boots based on your needs, not out of habit. Mobis are only good if you know when and how to roam. Otherwise, literally every other boot will be more useful to you.

When playing Morgana support, know when you should max your Shield first. You probably could've reduced Bard being a threat against you massively if you did in your most recent game.

A lot of your deaths tend to be surrounded by the deaths of your teammates and enemies en masse. I'm going to assume a lot of them are Teamfight deaths. If you're using Morgana in a way that would lead to that sort of death, for example Soul Shackling the enemy team, you need defense.

Don't always rush into Frost Queen's. Related to the past tip about Teamfighting, you need to know what items support you best. Frost Queen's is best in small skirmishes and picking people off. If you're planning on helping your team Teamfight, upgrade your Spellthief's only once and rush defensive utility like Sightstone or, if you're ahead, Zhonya's.

In general stop getting caught out. You're probably a combination of way too aggressive in lane/Teamfights for your own good, not dodging/defending enemy abilities (you're not maxing Black Shield when you need it), and getting caught out alone (no wards, buy Sightstone).

Oh my god! I haven't even finished reading this but I'm already sooooo thankful for that. That is such a great help, thanks so much!! You're amazing! X

I don't play ranked, but my advice is to try normals until you're confident enough in your ability so you can mute people who are being jackasses.

Car0line961 votes

Yeah I played normals a lot, but I just think the chances of having idiots in your team is higher because it doesn't matter if they loose or go afk.. Or is it not like that?

Ralanr1 votes

I don't play ranked so I can't compare.

Having idiots on your team is just expected in lower Elo. People would rather fight each other than fight the enemy. Being a support main means you suffer the worst since supports thrive through teamwork.

Mentally I'd recommend to get in the mindset of, "No fucks given". You're never gonna run into them again so why bother getting worked up?

Car0line961 votes

Yeah... I Try, but it just ends up with me crying while I stay quiet because they remind me again and again how bad I am. Hm... :/ I just have to keep playing and hope I improve and rank up quick.

Ralanr1 votes

Or develop a thicker skin. And remember that you can report toxic players in the hope that they won't hurt others.

Car0line961 votes

I know I keep reporting but it never does anything so... And yeah im working on that skin :D

Malhammers1 votes

...Maybe you really are bad at this game and actually do need to practice. Sure, there is a nicer way to say it but if you really are the underlying problem then fix that and hopefully you will have a better experience. Or play a role where you are not under a microscope the whole time (like jg).

Car0line961 votes

Yeah I know I said that above. That's why I was writing because I hope someone can give me tips on how to practice better. And I am trying jungle but it's the same problem. If your team loses its your fault.

It should never be the jungler's fault for your team losing a lane. Now, it's possible you didnt do anything to help the situation, but any skilled player should be able to win on their own merit. You are just there to make it easier for them to do so. So anyone blaming you for losing their lane is an unskilled toxic mess and should be ignored.

see you there.

I'd help you in-game but I'm on NA.

Thanks a lot, I'm checking that out rn :)

Np! The people there are generally quite helpful and it's a great learning resource.

From experience adcs or other carries seem to flame the most when things aren't going their way and that each game should be a win and nothing short of perfection. My advice would be to find one or two of the champions you love to play and don't mind losing as because they're fun. By playing someone you enjoy I find that losing doesn't feel really like losing as long as I had fun. While some people will always flame it's important not to let them get to you. Remember, as long as you do your best you should never be sad about your performance. Keep practicing and keep your head high! Good luck! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

ps I wanted to add an anecdote last minute. My friend is a support main on Thresh and tbh he was trash when he first started but after how ever many hours of game play his Thresh play is terrifyingly good. Practice is all it takes, and don't be afraid to experiment with your builds.

Car0line961 votes

Aww thanks that makes me feel better. Yeah.. My favourite champion is teemo top or mid but he's even worse in team fights than a support so I kind of can't really play him. And yes, good thresh players are just the best, I admire everyone who can play him (because... I cant :D).

Ozag the Mighty1 votes

I main supp as well so I feel ya...no matter how good/bad you can be the out come of a match (in most toxic players eyes) is blamed on the JG and Supp...

If your ADC is playing to aggressive, tell them to knock it off cause that's their fault. Also...

Depending on who you play as a supp can also determine how aggressive YOU play...Braum, Blitz, Thresh, Malphite, Mundo...these are all very aggressive supp and while they are front line your ADC can just farm and farm.

As for how to get better? Don't over extend and the only REAL way to get better is to just play the game and learn.

Car0line961 votes

Yeah, I kinda picked the wrong places I think :D it's just so annoying they want me to go in because I'm a tank, so I'm like okay, target someone, I start a stun with braum, use all my abilities, waiting for my adc, who's sitting safe under his tower while I die. Obviously my fault again...

GlockHammer1 votes

If you can, I'd say find some palls to play with. I just recently linked up with a guy that I've been having a blast with, we found a setup that works for us, me jungle, him support.

Also, if you do main support, getting some experience playing adc is quite helpful, it will widen your understanding of what these champs can and can not do.

Lastly, just ignore/mute the hater, haters gonna hate.

Car0line961 votes

Yeah I was playing with my boyfriend since I started but we're kinda arguing all the time because one of us is tilting so I'm playing alone now. And yeah I played some, and I love adcs. If they wouldn't have to last hit I might play them :D

Well uh... that kind of sucks. :<

I think?

Well, the last hitting is really just crux, a little practice and you'll have it down in no time. I'd say learning to orbwalk properly is a little harder, but also quite achievable with a little practice.

Anyway, League sucks to play alone. Or well, doesn't suck, but is simply better enjoyed with company. So if you want someone to play with just add SlaktarTasken on EUW. Good hunting!

Good lesson in life: some people are assholes and some people are idiots. While you can be an idiot without being an asshole, you are almost always an idiot if you choose to be an asshole.

Best thing to do is just mute the toxic player if you can't ignore the chat. Personally, i decide to find it humorous when people flame me (humor is my solution for a lot of junk tho, and of course it doesn't work for everyone). Im a fairly decent ad, and id duo with you but I'm in na so i guess that wont work. Another good thing to do is to find a friend to duo with, either real life or in game. You could also try playing adc a few times, since it would help to get a full understanding of the role of duo lanes. To get better, find a champion you really just love and learn how to play and get good at them. Find your main and pick it when you can or when the situation is right. You can also look up the synergies of different ADCs with different supports (such as blitz and kalista, soraka and sivir, etc) so that you can have a better synergy in your bot lane, making it easier for both you and the ADC.

Whatever you do, just remember that at the end of the day, this is just a game. Have fun and don't stress it if you make mistakes, everyone's got to learn somehow (and I'm sure you'll never be as bad as i used to be. I used to feed Ahris. As Yasuo. hehe).

Car0line961 votes

Haha aww :) thanks <3 yeah I will try to follow these (especially the: it's just a game - one), thanks a lot!

The Great Divide1 votes

I've felt that. I've started playing a lot of ADC because I just have given up trusting my ADC when I'm support will be kind, smart, and careful. So maybe play a few ADC games if your ADCs are just letting you down.

I'd advise learning jungle and mid as well. It'll help round your playstyle and to understand what other roles go through, so you better know how to help them on the map. (Plus you are in better positions to slaughter the enemy ADC as mid and jg, which is really fun sometimes after a game when you supported a flaming ADC).

Head Connoisseur1 votes

Some of what I say might just sound like really basic, stupid stuff, but it's stuff that helped me out when I first hit level 30 and realized I was nowhere near good enough to play much ranked.

I got yelled at a lot at because I was really bad (I personally played a lot of support because I wasn't confident enough to jungle or go in a solo lane yet), so what I did was try to focus on things that didn't also rely on my adc. For example, I always made it my personal goal to place the most wards on my team, or to buy the most pinks etc. I also tried to work on my positioning in lane (never being in a straight line of a blitzcrank etc). I tried to always know where their jungler was (even though that was unrealistic) by constantly watching the mini-map and pinging whenever I saw them.

TonyTonyMordecai1 votes

My advice, play normals for a little bit and practice.

Find a couple characters you like, and then practice with them. Another thing to do is just ignore the adc if they start yelling at you. You're in bronze, some people think they're going to get carried. Some people are like that, others not so much. Sometimes you'll meet adc's that are really nice and want to work as a team, and don't care if the support accidentally takes a kill, because sometimes it's better to take the kill than let the guy live.

What supports do you like playing as? Some supports work better with certain adc's too.

Curling Veigar1 votes

Sure, I can help, but I'll be a bit busy for a bit so I'll get back to this in a few hours

Lunarblaze1 votes

Try playing some different supports. Morg and Blitz are both pretty useless unless you can land their skillshots. Morg in particular is not that easy to play well.

I'm guessing your adc is raging at you because you are not landing good hooks/binds and therefore contribute little to harassing/peeling.

You should try playing more passive supports like Soraka. Haven't tried Soraka after the nerfs she received today, but there's not much for an adc to complain about when you are raka and you just sit in the back and heal. Not to mention raka is super impactful in teamfights as long as you can keep pumping out heals.

You can also try Alistar. They just made his combo easier to land, which means he is probably gonna now be one of the easiest support to learn. He's super beefy, and in the current solo queue meta, almost ANY team comp will welcome an extra tank. And even if you are not good enough to time the perfect engages with Alistar, you can still work wonders with his kit as a peeler. Just knock away anything that ever comes close to your carries.

Also, if you play support, you are REQUIRED to buy a sight stone. I almost always get one by my second back (this is BEFORE laning phase even ends). Wards win games. Also, consider further improving your vision game by buying pinks and learning when/where to place them.

Good luck.

CeexSett1 votes

I think the better tips that can be given to you are, in general, like other people have said, to get a sightstone and buying wards. If you ward your lane (and the map in general), not only you will be safer, the whole team will too, leading to less deaths, and therefore, less raging. If you get Sightstone, swap your yellow trinket (the ward one) and buy a Sweeper Lens (later upgrading to the other red one I can´t remember the name of). As important as giving vision to your team is denying vision of your opponents.

More particularly, with Morgana, analise your lane opponents. If after 3 or 4 Bindings they have dodges them all, consider that it may be a lost cause to try and hit them and maybe max the Shield agaisnt a CC-heavy enemy, Or your W. It will give you more lane presence. (Just don´t push the wave too much with your W, adcs hate that :).

With Blitz, it´s jsut a matter of landing hooks. That´s all blitz does. You can pratice against friends/bots in customs until you think you are good enough to land hooks reliably. I suppose landing 5/10 hooks is already an acceptable marging.

Most importantly, as soon as someone flames you, try not to answer and focus. If you ry to be rude to them or show them that you are good, you will play worse and only fuck up the situation.

Good luck in your Ranked Games! :D

I just realized...if you want to play a really safe support...just use lux...not only is she CC she also has that stupid high range and if your ADC starts feeding...start building full AP and carry them since they can't do it them selves...hell Zyra is a GODLY support because of her crazy lane controll along with her plants poking the hell outta champs, throw in a crystal sceptre and it's GG for the bot lane.

Hyppocritamus1 votes

I'm susprised nobody's asked this, but...who do you play?

As a fellow newbie Sup player, I use Leona and Nami interchangably. As such, I pair them according to whomever my ADC is.

As an example, I use Leona with: Miss Fortune, because I can E>Q and stunlock, which combos nicely with her ult. Kalista, because Oathsworn and Leona's innate compliment each other wonderfully

And I use Nami with: Graves, because he's shorter range, and more likely to take more damage, so Ebb and Flow works nicely with him. Jinx, because Powpow makes good use of Nami's attack and speed buffs.

Occasionally I'll also grab Lux botlane, as her speed manipulation abilities I find useful with more poke-oriented ADCs, like Caitlyn.

hey! former support main here, if you want help getting out of bronze i can definitely help with that. support isn't my main anymore because i find it kind of boring in the new season, but i have a lot of experience with it and i can help you learn and improve.

i can't get a lot of information out of just your match history, but if you want, you can add me in game and i can spectate you sometime. you don't have to, would just be easier to help you if i could actually see what you're doing.

as for rude guys on league, just ignore them. you don't have to mute them if you don't want to, but i use the mute button a LOT and i find it doesn't affect my ability to win. just focus on what you're doing. it's easier to focus when you don't have some neckbeard bugging you for every mistake and acting like he's better than you

honestly, playing league as a girl never really gets much better, no matter how good you are. i've had guys that are lower ranked than me make fun of me for being gold 5, had guys tell me i suck dick for LP, and all sorts of generic sexist crap. but they shut the fuck up real fast when they realize you're better than them. just mute, report, focus on winning the game. don't let it get to you because that's exactly what they want.

most importantly, remember that it's just a game and these guys are just losers you don't know. learning and climbing the ranks can be fun, but only if you enjoy it.
