Hextech Rocketbelt is going to effect much more than just mages. My concerns with the item.

First off lets just go over what Rocketbelt does. It costs 2750 gold gives 300 HP and a dash that also deals damage.

I get that riot wants to give immobile mages a chance to thrive in a meta where everyone is mobile, but this item is going to do either 1 or 2 things.

  1. Current mages are going to start building this item combined with either item 3157 item 3027 or item 3116 and become way harder to kill than they need to be, screwing melee champs over more than they already are.

or

  1. Assassins are going to start rushing this item while the mages are struggling to farm mana items, then we will see a bunch of QQ threads about assassins being to strong in the mid lane while mages are too weak

Considering a lot of Ahri have been going for item 3157 item 3116 item 3027 , I cant help but think that Rocketbelt is just going to exacerbate Ahri's already incredibly safe play style. She is going to have a 3rd dash for her ult which does just as much early damage, as well as a nice engage / escape tool for when her ultimate is down. The HP combined with her already beefy build path will also make her much harder to kill than she already is. Not to mention the CDR which mages have been struggling to get as of late.

This guy Fizz is the one that worries me the most. Fizz has been in a good spot for a while now but I feel that the new item will make his early-mid game too strong. Others may disagree with me but fizz is not a champion that needs a lot of early mana to thrive, one or two item 1056 or a item 2033 is more than enough to sustain him in the early to mid game. Right now fizz's main options for dealing extra early damage are item 3100 and item 3285 . But I worry both of them are going to be out-shined by the new item seeing as It matches the CDR from lichbane, gives more damage than the ludens / spellblade proc early, while at the same time being a dash and giving him extra tankiness early on.

EkkoLeblanc for obvious reasons.

Annie has been out of flavor for a while now, but now that Annie doesn't have to have flash to Flash + Ult your team I feel she will be a little too strong. Did I mention the new flash also does damage and makes her harder to kill?

Not to mention how this is going to effect the many existing champs that already have issues with being kited or having no escapes Warwick Garen Darius

I get that this item will probably not hit live in it's current state, but I'd rather it never hit live at all.

I'm not really worried about this item because of what certain AP users can do with it - I think it makes up for the fact that AD champions can go Maw, Steraks or Mercurial and almost completely negate the rotation of a mage.

I'm afraid of what they did to compensate for adding this item. They reduced the AP for Zhonyas, Rod of Ages, and the Abyssal. Certain mages are almost pure poke/siege and would never be placed in a situation where they could use the AOE burst from the belt safely or consistently. Take Xerath for instance. They're removing AP and offering a solution that doesn't help Xerath Velkoz Ziggs Syndra deal with tanky assassins, or put out more damage.
