New jungle sucks for every player who loved to play jungle

Well tbh, i loved jungle before they changed it, before the change almost every jungle champ could jungle, but now, there is like 5 champs who works, and its trunde, olaf, kha, xin and a graves. Why would you ever make a jungle where cc champs is the only chammps who works. I was a lee main, who had a winrate on 60-65% winrate, and lee wasent even broken in the old jungle, but with the new jungle, my winrate droped down to like 45%. I understand why league of legends want to change the game, so its still Entertaining, but what Lol does, is making the game worse, by nerfing every other jungle but 5, and say that they buffed mages and other junglers who still sucks

There wasn't a lot of jungle diversity beforehand either, I'm not sure what you're talking about. The same champions that are oppressive now were almost identical to the oppressive junglers before, just add Graves to the mix. The early dueling meta is similar to the early ganking meta where combat comes very early in the game.

I despise it. I have met zero jungle mains that find it more interesting. It is just fundamentally less interesting to play. It removed viable champions, game presence, skill, and game choice. It added more snowballing to the game which is something we are dealing with right now in how ADCs don't feel like they can contribute any longer since the game isn't lasting long enough to "hyper carry".

I have played since beta, and I think it is the single least successful rework in the history of the game. I am still baffled by how anyone thought it would be a good idea. Is there really a person out there that thought that killing a giant golden crab that spends its time running from you would be interesting?

My first post pretty clearly specified jungle mains... and you don't jungle.

So the point stands, but I'm glad you find the position that you don't play to be more interesting to play...

In fact, it isn't a bit of a stretch to say this entire thread can be summed up as "if you play jungle you hate it. If you've played like three games of the new jungle, you troll by coming in and tell the rest of us how much better it is."

How the f*ck i don't play jungle ?? sure its my side role. But i sure play it. And you just look at my main account. Is it troll cause i don't bitch about changes ? is it troll cause i have a better understanding of jungle than any random silver ?

Lord you are sensitive. Don't take it so personally kiddo, we're just chatting on the internet.

The troll is that you're a one trick Wu Top. You occasionally get forced to play jungle, and when you do, you do fairly bad at it (with a notable exception here and there). But I'm sure your alt account is you just killing it in the jungle. And I wouldn't pull the rank card, since what little we've heard out of pros and challengers has been bleak. And if your opinion invalidates mine, theirs invalidates yours.

New jungle sucks for everyone, not just jungle mains.

Most jungle mains have either quit jungle or quit the game altogether, making jungle as likely a fill position as support. So, many teams are getting a filled jungle who suffers the changes more so than the actual jungle mains who have enough knowledge about the role to adapt.

Thing is, we shouldn't have to adapt to some sudden overnight changes that were forced in the game all because some Riot executive thought, "This is a good idea," while taking a shit.

Well, I've been jungling for years but I'm having a lot of trouble adapting. Too many places to be, leveling is too slow and I prefer building for mid-lategame more than earlygame (hence why I take Resolve on most of my jungles instead of Sorcery). That and in the games' current state your lanes are a lottery. If some snowballer on the enemy team draws first blood it's too often gg because I have no way to do anything about a level 6 2/0 Fizz who got Sheen after 5 mins as a level 4 (or sometimes even 3...) jungler.

there is like 5 champs who works, and its trunde, olaf, kha, xin and a graves.

KhaZix Olaf and Graves have 0 forms of hard cc, Trundle has a small displacement and slow field, and Xin has single target knock up on q, slow on w and knock back on ult.

Why would you ever make a jungle where cc champs is the only chammps who works.

Your main Lee has more cc than 4 of the 5 champions you listed.

Nhifu1 votes

Lee has 1 slow, and his ult is a knock back that's okay here and there; but easily replaced by ADC's like Vayne or Trist lol Plus every other jungler has more CC, are tankier, and do more damage than lee atm.

The Deckowner5 votes

Lee Sin's R is one of the best single target point and click cc in the game.

The important point is that OP titled the post like this:

New jungle sucks for every player who loved to play jungle

Then he makes a statement:

Why would you ever make a jungle where cc champs is the only chammps who works.

Then he listed a bunch of duelist(not cc) duelists:

there is like 5 champs who works, and its trunde, olaf, kha, xin and a graves

Not saying jg is in a good state but OP clearly has no idea what he is talking about.

I was mostly a jungle main, started one tricking shyvana and was getting 75%-80% winrate before the changes hit, using a farm and split push strategy. Then I could barely keep her at 50% winrate right after the jungle changes, despite trying new pathing and tactics. I realized that I could try as hard as I wanted, but ultimately she just wasn't that good anymore for jungle. Even if I could make it work, I would be working twice as hard for half the results.

And considering that I have always hated early gank reliant junglers that fall off, I decided it's better to give up on the jungle entirely rather than try to learn one of the few viable junglers left. Plus, even if you do play an early gank jungler, the camp changes hit early presence hard so you'll be getting less for your effort. (I know at high elo jungler can actually have more impact with early gankers now, but at low elo early game is meaningless. They throw leads instantly and fail to capitalize on your early plays. That's why I switched to split push and farm oriented strategies that would let me 1vs9 games to get out of elo hell).

I went toplane and am currently sitting at a 90% winrate as Yorick and 75% on Nasus. I don't have to worry about the jungle having any impact on the game anymore, at least at silver elo, so I can just patiently farm up and split push to victory. No longer worrying about how much my team is going to feed the enemy jungler before I come online.

ahferroin72 votes

It's kind of interesting how instead of looking at the demographics of who was causing the issues they quoted (level 3 ganks when the lane is still level 2), they just nerfed everything.

I mean, it's not like the fact that champs like Yi, and WW, and Xin were ganking lanes who were at only level two has anything to do with their kits allowing them to safely clear camps at ridiculous speeds.

OMGSoAnnoying1 votes

If it was just them, sure. But it was just about all junglers that would be L3 while laners were L2. I was also doing this on Vi, Voli, Jax, even Ivern.

ahferroin73 votes

Who are also people who can clear safely at ridiculous speeds (well, all but Voli, he got hit kind of hard by this).

My point is it's not really the jungle design that's the issue, it's how people interact with it. With these changes, the only people who are viable jungle are those who were already oppressive as junglers. The current design actually makes things far worse too, and reinforces the boring pro-play they don't like, and the frustrating low-level play that people have been complaining about for the past two seasons.

Feed or Famine2 votes

Could have been solved by a simple exp nerf (make junglers have to take another camp to hit 3), which they did. But they also added this stupid crab mini objective in which serves no point but to snowball one jungler over the other

doiminat0r36002 votes

I don't know what you're talking about?

The Jungle back when I used to actually play this game (2 years ago) was just as oppressive as what you're describing. There were maybe 4 junglers that were the most popular. All of which had CC and massive burst and self heal. That leaves ~6-8 characters that filled that niche.

Being a jungler used to mean something before they reworked the entire thing when Rek'sai came out. Almost everyone, even supports, could jungle. The massive jungle change really shook things up for Junglers. It created all of these buffs and the entire jungle was built around Reksai. She was the only jungler who could even make it work.

Also, you say "lee wasn't even broken in the old jungle" yet you say he has a 60-65% winrate and was the bane of everyone's existance since before the release of rek'sai and continued dominating into pre-season 8 (when played my last match). I don't know about you, but 60-65% winrate in a single position is definitely a sign that they're busted somehow.

OP is just really unhappy that he can't win with lee sin in silver.

That being said, it just sucks that a company forces you to change your playstyle to fit the meta. Instead of "fixing" a game and trying to balance better cough matchmaking cough, Riot pigeonholes you into picking X pool of adc, X pool of jungle , X pool of top laners.

^^This. The problem is that with how bad the jungle is right now, peoples way of adapting is quitting jungle or the game. That should be concerning to Riot.

As a former adc main who switched to jungle this season, I'm considering switching back even though I climbed way higher in jungle than adc ever let me.

Ever since the jungle changes, I struggled to fit into the meta, as it just wasn't my style. I finally found a couple of champs I can preform well enough on most of the time (trundle/camille, rip my camille ranked wr doe), but you know what? I'm taking my first real break from league in a long time because I just don't have fun while playing anymore.

The game is no longer "If I do this, I might create an advantage for my team", it's "If I don't do this, I'll fall so far behind that I'll be useless." The changes killed a lot of the options and freedom that the role used to have. If I don't contest scuttle, then I'll fall behind in levels, and won't be able to contest the next one, then the drag, then the baron, ect. Playing from behind is less about making the right moves and more about hoping your opponent makes the wrong ones, or that your team can carry you.

I really just find no enjoyment in the current meta, and for now will take a break from league. Maybe I'll come back after the next patch considering two of my old mains (sej and poppy) are both getting buffs. But I'm not very optimistic about it.

The game has always been if I don't do this I fall behind even farther and lose. I don't see the difference. If your having problems in the jungle its because you have valuing buffs to much and camp clearing. New jungle is more about 4 camp lvl 3 then try to gank and tax your lanes for exp. Then go back into jungle to get rest of exp to level up again. If enemy junglers want to invade let them. They will fall behind in levels. I've noticed ill be 2 levels ahead of a lot of people in my games because they aren't taxing lane exp like I do. Because of this lvl advantage I normally snowball for my team.

Even If my teammates cry about me taxing them Idc. Jungle exp is pretty trash atm imo that lane taxing is a must.

I appreciate that you are being pretty reasonable and looking for ways to adapt to the new jungle... but doesn't this post basically say that the new jungle is such a shit show that you have to go to lane and steal xp from your laner in order to generate an advantage against a jungler who actually tries to jungle? That's hardly an endorsement for the current jungle.

Azadethe1 votes

You can 3 camp level 3 and then some. Red > Krugs > Wraiths = level 3 and some 20%. I hit level 6 right after mid lane in mostly a grind style, and way before bot,..... without Taxing.

The Missing Dog1 votes

What champion are you using cause only one i think that can do that for me is udyr. That rotation of camps is just to much damage on anyone else and i feel time to kill them all would take to long.

Azadethe1 votes

There are a ton who can do it, and it basically just relies on getting item 1039 rather than item 1041 . item 1039 is FAR more powerful than knife now, because

  1. They increased the length and amount of the burn.
  2. They increased the HP recovered from damaging an enemy with it.

If your start red, all you have to do is individually attack each mob rather than focusing on one (ie .... hit both small and large krug, rather than just hitting the Large Krug) This will enhance how much HP you are regaining.

The dual burn from red/trinket is enough to auto attack the monsters to death.

If you do Krugs first, some champs might struggle at Wraiths, so you skip them and go get the Scuttle (if you can) Scuttle will recover you enough and get smite ready for wraiths so you can come pick them back up.

I do this on these champs:

Amumu Camille Evelynn Fiddlesticks Fizz Graves Irelia Karma Kayn Nidalee Morgana Nocturne Olaf Ornn Poppy Pyke Shyvana Sion Udyr Vi Zyra

(I don't really play Amumu/Camille/Fiddle/Fizz/Graves myself, but it's viable)

The only champs it has a challenge vs is generally MasterYi DrMundo , and Warwick just takes too long because he's a single target on his entire kit.

Works EXTREMELY well with Evelynn Pyke for me, because Pyke can just E right from Red into them, stun them, and go to town. You can even make the Pyke clear safer, by being behind their camp, and then Q Hold to pull one of the Krugs over the wall, and then Eing into the camp to engage the other one. This gives you a few seconds where you're only facing one Krug. Takes off a few hits you would have taken.

Eve is just Eve. can run around and heal.

The reason this is important is because Krug XP has massively been increased. Large /Mid are outright higher, and Smalls now range from 7-11 XP each, where they used to just be a flat 7 per small for the entire game.

Zyra can take the camp without even taking damage as long as you use plants to tank.

The Missing Dog1 votes

When I say 4 camps I have been including scuttle as my 4th camp. Without scuttle can you get 3 off just those 3 camps? Also fiddelsticks takes to long to do wraiths, i wouldn't suggest that path for him, krugs he kills very fast though. I don't own most of those champions, but ill try it on amumu and vi.

When you do wraiths which is the camp i normally struggle on at lvl 2 do you AA all the mini wraiths and just ignore the big one. I normally just try to skip them til i get 3-4 because I out scale the camp at that time which makes killing them easier for me.

When you do this route do you have to go back or can you gank a lane after 3? This is also important to me, because i feel if i can't gank right away after 3 my teammates just die and we end up losing the game from snowball. I am very heavier ganker in this new jungle and i normally only care about my first scuttle crab kill. Rest of them I normally don't mind if they get taken, but i still try for them.

I normally smite scuttle also with my first smite. my normal path i do is if starting red. kill red save smite go blue kill it without using smite. Kill scuttle with smite try to steal enemy krugs. If i start blue. I kill blue save smite, kill gromp by time gromp dead scuttle just spawns, smite kill scuttle try to invade enemy krugs. Depending on how I feel i might not invade the krugs.

One game this master yi was just sitting in top lane tri bush for no reason for like 30-45 seconds doing nothing. I just happen to do my normal path and of course lvl 2 master yi kills lvl 2 vi because he just heals himself and takes no damage so much fun. That game my team just didn't want to win though. Can't carry people who don't want to win. I don't think I will invade with vi again though.

Azadethe1 votes

I smiteless Red, so I have a smite for Krugs and a Smite for Wraiths. I kill the big Wraith on it and then just rotate the small ones on auto attacks until whatever aoe skill I have is back up.

Basically no matter the champ, my clear order is effectively this:

  1. Don't smite red.
  2. Initiate camp with Aoe, proccing hunters from all sources.
  3. Auto attack each monster 1-2 times, smiting the large one when I've taken some HP damage.
  4. Aoe the remainder when skill back up.

And yes. Those three camps do give Level 3 and then some. Red + Krugs is about Level 2 and 65%. Wraiths puts you at level 3 with about 20%.

If your champ has trouble with the rotation, you can always bring a item 2031 . I do that on Pyke, because without it, Krugs at the Medium - Large level are HP eating a bit. I generally pop one charge after my first stun is out and I begin taking damage.

Krugs give more XP level 2 than Scuttle does btw. In fact about 120 more XP for the full camp. Also more gold. It's only later game that Scuttle XP/Gold is substantial.

I never recall until I have a full clear or get counter ganked, or took too much damage during a gank.

I generally TRY to hit up mid and then top for Ganks, but sometimes Mid doesn't allow that, so I just keep farming into the Blue side and then into top.

Vi actually counters Yi, btw. Just wait until he Q's to charge Q of your own. It will create a barrier to soak some damage, and if he's already low or enters meditate, your Q will do a ton of damage/knock him out of meditate. And if you are at a disadvantage, you can use the Q to run away, as his Alpha strike is down, and he can't follow you. If you lead with Q, you're telling him you know he's there, wasting your one out, and he knows you can't run, and won't have a barrier for the fight (since it doesn't last long)

That being said, it just sucks that a company forces you to change your playstyle to fit the meta. Instead of "fixing" a game and trying to balance better cough matchmaking cough, Riot pigeonholes you into picking X pool of adc, X pool of jungle , X pool of top laners.

there are many people who play very few champsions, myself included.. and if riot just flat out takes out a massive chunk out of the champions they like by making them unplayable.. then people are doing to leave.

Hmm, really seems to me that a lot of junglers are viable right now though. I mean Evelynn Camille Graves XinZhao Taliyah Nidalee Kayn Jax and others, they're all perfectly viable, no?

The playstyles of junglers may not be the most fun, I don't play enough to know but I know that I have seen all of these picks work just fine and the statistics support that conclusion.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

most styles are viables... unless tanks (idc tbh).

Azadethe1 votes

Even tanks are fine.... as long as they eat their KRUGS. They have good aoe kits for clear...

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

think they're clear is to slow... and they take to much time to be relevant.

Azadethe1 votes

They're really not slow at all with the new item 1039 mods. and they give 120 more XP than Scuttles. They are the largest XP camp in the game. Not hard to use smite to decrease the time on the Large Krug, and then whittle down 3 mediums. You just need to learn how to efficiently clear a jungle mob and make the best use of your items/skills. I mean.... if you see the top Evelynn's clear a Wraith or Krug pool..... they don't Charm the large mob and then wait for charm to be charged. They begin Qing the SMALL minions before it's even charged. By the second volley of Q, Charm is charged, and the hit will do its damage to the large mob.

There's tons of little tricks like this for most champs. The only inefficient part of the clear is when you have to walk around the terrain rather than going through it. You have a berry to Krugs, so use it. Or use a champ that can get right there.

Preach brother . Been maining nocturne jungle since I started playing late season 6 . whether its bronze silver or my trash diamond elo , Jungle has ZERO diversity now.

Its as you said : Xin , trundle , olaf , kha , graves and may be Evelynn sometimes or camille.

Level 3 ganks became level 2 ganks and the original goal of riot to prevent early ganks , has utterly failed . now games are even more snowbally than ever , and if crab spawns at the complete opposite of where you should be pathing/ganking , then either you go there because you dont wanna fall behind , or you stick to your path and fall behind .

Otherwise it is the SAME THING every single game . I don't ban xin because i think he is stronger than me , I ban xin because I am tired of seeing his shit every game

And only mains of these champs will say jungle is fine

Now I quit jungle cause I'm bored out of my mind of always facing the same champs, same patterns , same pathing , same 5v5 or almost every crab spawn. Solo laning is much more fun than being a jungler playing out of meta champs .
