Kalistas Passive

Having played Kalista on the PBE I can say I'm concerned about her passive.

As I've tested using Runaan's Hurricane can let you farm like crazy when combined with Rend. But this attack speed route causes your Passive to become increasingly harder to use. Having lots of attack speed is strong on her as I've seen but the faster you attack the less time you have to use the jump. Not only that but when you attack the inability to cancel autos causes you to miss a lot of cs. It even can cause it to feel like she "locks" on to enemies and spears them to death. I like to hit all the minions with an attack plus the Runaan's and then Rend for the finish. But without being able to switch targets she is constantly attacking the wrong enemy.

The fact is that her Passive doesn't feel like it synergies-es well with her Rend. From testing I've found the need to click for every jump to be unresponsive or just require too much skill for the average player to have fun with.

So one solution would be to change it to be every 3, for example, auto attacks (or a spear toss) she will jump towards the cursor. This solution would remove her not being able to switch targets and avoid unnecessary clicking. It would also synergies better with Rend wanting attack speed.

Another possible solution, which would be my favoured one, would be to make her next movement within X amount of time after an attack or spear toss hit to cause Kalista to jump the first step of the movement.

In any case I think that Kalista is a great champion, especially the strategic choices that come from her Soulbind and Ult. But I think her passive gets in the way of the other abilities and even causes gameplay to feel "jerky". (as in a sudden move, not a mean person) This in turn, at least for me, made her more difficult to have fun with and I found my self not moving too much to avoid the flow of the game from being interrupted.

Thank-you to anyone who takes the time to read my input.

Well voiced. I've heard echos of similar sentiments.

She's simply a mechanical dificult champ, atleast if u go for AS, but i had no problems useing her Passive and switching targets with runaans. If u are good at orbwalking, that passive combined with lots of AS makes u more mobile than a yasuo withn a minion wave.

She will probably rarly be played in lower elos/by un experienced players, but she will be broken in higher elos cause off all the potential her kit holds, especially her passive.

You do make a good point that she is a mechanically difficult champion. But I'm not sure if your right about her not being played in low elos. I suspect that, at least at first, she will be seen all over the rift. Part of my point, even though I forgot to mention it, was that less experienced players will play and then get wrecked. I wouldn't want to have a try hard Kalista in every match.

And as you say for the better players she'll be OP as you wouldn't believe. I just think that they need to rework the passive a little bit to make it useable by everyone but still difficult enough that you'll still need some expertise to use it the right way.
