"Godlike" announcement

Dear riot games.

I find the "Godlike" announcement very offensive because I believe in god. Will it be possible to switch over to something else instead?

Thank you.

God-"like".

They aren't saying the player is God.

Whether or not your belief is monolithic, I don't see how it can be offensive.

If you look at the definition it says that Godlike means resembling God or a god in qualities such as power, beauty, or benevolence.

"Resembling" is not "equating". It is also merely subjectively used to refer to someone's perceived impression of another, and is merely a metaphorical phrase to express amazement or as an exaggeration, and is also at no expense of God because it's "like" and not "is". You don't have to be offended by a descriptive language that isn't even actually offensive.

Even if the term is actually saying one has become God, do still remember not all beliefs and religions are polylithic, or just sharing the same beliefs and ideals in general; we all have to compromise here and there with others.

Also that link doesn't work.

let me start by saying i couldnt be less biased either way.

But usually the way you go about this is by completely avoiding it, and in almost every instance riot uses this technique as a rule, such as the fact that this post wouldnt even be allowed if it werent an in game line.

Talking about religion is HEAVILY avoided by riot, and im sure they are taking this as a extremely minor flaw in symmetry.

Theyre not going to change it, but based on their policies, they fucked up.

It's your own problem. Stop playing then.

The game has a lot more raunchy and borderline demonic content to be offended by, the term "godlike" isn't an intent to infringe on a religion.

I find it offensive as well , I wish they would come up with a better line

Sorry, but the link was meant to show the following:

god|like

ADJECTIVE resembling God or a god in qualities such as power, beauty, or benevolence: "our parents are godlike figures to our childish eyes" synonyms: divine · godly · angelic · seraphic · transcendent · superhuman · spiritual · heavenly · celestial · sacred · holy · saintly · beatific · blessed · empyrean · deiform · deific befitting a god: "he is a noble figure of godlike magnanimity"

This may not be offensive to some players however, it is very offensive to others. Will it be possible to fix this fault? Humans aren't godlike. please bear in mind that there are people from religious backgrounds that play this game.

i wish it would but people can be offended by the stupidest of things these days so it's hard to say for certain whether someone is trolling or not

It's in gameplay, and the above comment suggests he's not joking. That's a terrifying thought.

There are actual demons, and Aurelion is a literal god, but he's offended by a goddamn sentence for when someone's doing good.

Atheist who studies theology, specifically, middle eastern religions.

Comparing anything to the god of these religions is usually deemed as top tier sin. No matter the "level". Comparisons to god, especially in the form of power are usually a big nonononono.

Unless however you are western christian, as western christians tend to waver drastically on how "orthodox" their beliefs are, compared to other religions.(on average ofc)

So basically, the books say its wrong, but the people choose how they interpret it (usually by ignoring it)and it becomes norm.

Western christianity is evolving in such a way, that they are writing their own book at this point.

dude all it says is that its god-"like" people believe in other gods too, so by the same effect someone could be referring to Zeus or something. it depends on your religion how you take it, in your case you take it as a Christian or catholic.

I agree, riot needs to be more tolerant of muslims kappa.

It does not mean "godlike" in the sense that it pertains to our meaning of God. There are, assumably, many gods in the lore within league of legends. A player being "godlike" is not "like god" in terms of our world and our god(s), but is "like a god" in the universe that Runeterra is set in.

Does that make you feel a little better about it? Hope for the best.

I agree, I petition to have it changed to 'Tony Stark.'
