You guys are at fault for staying close to her after she ulted.
Ye it will take some time for people to realize that you need to stay the fuck away from her especially when she ults. Same shit happened with darius after 5.16 where people thought that "we can just focus him down all 5 of us" and then he gets a penta. then people learned that they can very easily kite him and then he does nothing. Pro tip of the day => Treat illaoi as a nasus with 600 stacks or a darius with his passive on. Kite the fu k out of her.
Illaoi is gonna be one of those champions that get reworked in the future, I'm calling it. Her counter play is to stay away from her when her test of Spirit and/or Ult are off cooldown and riot tends to dislike gameplay that encourages players to interact less.
Test of Spirit gives you the "option" to fight her or walk away, but this is a joke as she will beat you if you try to go duke it out.
I think she's fine as far as balance goes, it's just that she's not fun to play against. Kinda like playing vs heimerdinger.
I have no issues against heim. Zyra is a different thing though.
She just got worked on to make her not die off immediately if she was behind though. She was suffering something fierce prior to that. If she didn't get any kills, she was basically a waste of space. At least now, she's threatening. Just pick champs that counter her, don't go blindly into a game against her. She spawns lots of minions, yes. However, these minions are stationary, and if you kite her away from them, it will be a while until they're back up. Additionally, don't flee if she Test of Spirits you. Stay there and fight her. She can't particularly focus on your soul if you're defending it. On that note, make sure when she Tests you, you have kited her to a location where her tentacles aren't at yet.
Tl:Dr - Kite her.
Yes. I like this advice. It'll help others lose lane to me.
