I need some clarification on New Players and Elo

The time stamp is 51:57... almost an hour match. The cait's damage output was 5.5k. That's around 100 damage a minute.

Im not even mad at the cait who went 0/12/2 in a ranked match. We ended up winning through determination and focus.

My question is why/HOW are completely new players joining ranked and getting into gold+ elo games?

The last couple of games I've had several players admit they're new to ranked or have no clue what they are doing. Its extremely hard to give positive experiences in a ranked match when the person is unaware of the advanced things going on. Even with the team helping and trying to be as positive as possible.

How are players [who JUST hit 30( Or around 30)] Who have never played a ranked match to begin with, entering into games with people who are Gold+ Elo? Wouldn't that ruin the experience for new players? How fair would it be to play a game with people who are climbing into Gold/plat+ while you're just learning the game?

I just made a post that starts to rant about how people are forced to carry this type of player or they lose more LP than they can gain.

Its very unfortunate this happens so often, and really needs to be looked into.

Thats... extremely aggravating.

So new accounts just getting into ranked have a WAY higher advantage then? It's almost like if you're stuck in your elo... just make a new account - get to 30 - try again... Otherwise you'll be playing with people who have no idea what is even happening....[sg-lux-2]

It's called elo hell for a reason. Even Fogged as the number 1 Tryndamere, a character literally made to win games on his own while ignoring the rest of the team and making the enemy deal with him on his terms, can't carry in iron-silver consistently.

Tryndamere is too one dimensional to be considered a good champion at carrying games. It really doesn't matter how good the player playing him is after a certain point. He is only good at split pushing and nothing else. It would be much better to pick a champion that can split push and be useful in teamfights. In low elo, champions that can team fight extremely well like vladimir are much better options because low elo players don't know how to play when they have a split pusher in the team and they just try to force fights even when they are behind so you should be there to stop them from losing fights.

i didnt see the match but i highly doubt this is a new player. im 99% sure this is a troll who doesnt join any fights and only watches them from a distance to make others mad and get them to flame. basic 101 trolling.

After seeing the per minute damage... Thats... literally doing nothing, right? 100 damage a minute is one AA. Per. Minute.

Youre probably right in the person wasnt new and just trolling, the player was unranked mixed with golds and silvers.

actually new players tend to have somewhat high dps. because they fight all the time as they dont know what to do and just get jumped on and then fire back.

if i had to guess, the damage of this guy comes from q'ing the minions and the enemy running into it and him trying to ks with his ult.

but yeah i had that before. a singed top who had less than 3k damage in a 27min game. never left lane, never pushed to get towers. i didnt watch him much but i also think he never pressed q EVER in the entire game.

sad thing is there is nothing you can do. send in a support ticket and if youre super lucky (basically winning a jackpot in the casino) you get someone who actually does their job and watches the replay, banning the dude for trolling. but that is so unlikely, the ticket is a waste of time

I dont get why new Players have to start in gold, while older ones have to climb back a lot... Let them start Bronze/Silver...not in Gold when a lot of ppl just ruin games and takes ages to derank.

AFKERs. Rage Quitters. New players. "Running down mid" players. Flamers... Paired with Low Plat/High Gold Elo+.

Im seeing people who are truly trying to play the game, win and have some fun... mixed with IDGAF people.

I just watched someone troll my boyfriend(Silver 1 in Gold Promos) Banned his champ and picked his champ and laughing... "Just cause he can"

but you do though... the arbitrary rank you're given is iron bronze or silver for a new player. your starting mmr is silver 3 or silver 2.

only way to play with golds as a new player is to somehow get carried atleast 4 games in a row, or the matchmaker is trash.

Definitely not true! I had a player in one of my ranked games a month ago who literally had only won one ranked match, ever. Was 1/6 or something. Was my mid in a gold game. Fact.

can't be a new account or new player then. if a new player 1/6 in the promo's is in a MID GOLD match, then there's some real issues with the game lmao. best thing i can give you is maybe the guy was duo.

I'm not seeing this match in your history. According to LoG, your last game in that queue was almost 300 days ago. The last non-bot match I'm seeing was 20 days ago.

Because of this, we can't see their actual rank. And, no matter their rank, this looks like they're afk. Even an Iron 1 would have a higher damage output. I can't say for certain, since you conveniently left out their level in game, their KDA, their CS, their name, and this game didn't even happen on your account, but that's what it appears to be.

Because Gold 4 is about the midpoint right now. For reasons related to having an actually functioning MMR system, they have to start at the midpoint.

A very simple question really: Why are people who are unranked/unskilled/new playing with people who are Silver1/Gold3+?

I would never post a name on League forums, Where as it seems like it would be calling for trouble.

I can post from where I can view the game... I have the replay... I have whatever proof anyone needs. I was watching the entire time not 5 feet from me. Not sure how much more proof I need im not the cait lol. Why would I post asking why higher elo people are playing with low elos when I dont even play ranked?

You can search other users in the Client using the search tool. If you view their match history, it will show their name highlighted and on top. Please do your research next time before jumping to conclusions.

That screenshot is from a 171 level account and OP is level 138 so he's either lying or using an alt account but pretending that he isn't which seems really weird if he's not lying.

And the score of Caitlyn on the screenshots don't match what he said on the thread either.

Incorrect. This only applies when you are viewing your own Match History. When you search someone else's username in the Client and view their match history, their name will be highlighted and will be on top.

You guys need to do a little more research before making false assertions. I was able to track down the name of the user and they are indeed new to the game and were playing their placement matches.

What's even weirder... this topic is made from an account that's Bronze for past 3 seasons, his last games were played vs Bots - which he managed to beat with a KDA of 4 / 3 / 19 in one of his games. O.o

I got flamed for asking why all accounts do not start at iron 4. The better players go up and the newer players swim around til they get better.... that’s my logic anyway. I don’t under stand this “let’s start them at silver with all these other people that know 10,000 times more game knowledge than them” mentality...

I don't think it has to do with divisions as much as mmr. If Cait is unranked and her mmr is closer to yours, then the system is gonna think you share the same skill level and match you together. It happened many times to me, where I get a lot of wins in a row, and suddenly I'm matched against diamond 3s and 4s while I'm only gold and if I lose a lot then I'm against silver 1s and 2s. No one knows for sure how the system works cause rito kept the MMR system hidden so it can't be abused.

They should really take into account player levels when matchmaking. A level 30 is no where near a level 300.

Starting anyone at the middle of all MMR or whatever it is, is stupid. People should start full stop in the bottom of Iron and work their way up.

Everytime I questioned their awful matchmaking, Rankeds or Normals, the answer has always been: "working as intended". After 3 years of constant decline, I hope they eventually start to do something about it.

Can confirm, when my ex started playing ranked she was consistently playing against high golds and low plats for quite a long time. It has been a deterrent to her since, which sucks because she's good enough to hit plat herself at this point imo.

Shouldn't unranked players start off with either other unranked players or irons/bronze players before working their way up?

This sounds like Riot setting new players up for failure by sending them into games where they'll get stomped in.

So, I have 6 accounts. What Riot seems to be doing is this:

  1. Your MMR starts gold. Your very first ranked game on a fresh account will be with/against golds
  2. Your rank will be bronze. Your MMR and rank will not be close at all.
  3. After your placements are over, you will get +33 (or more, I can't remember) on a win, and -5 (or less, can't remember) on a loss.

This is to force people to grind out more games to reach their true rank, because even if you're winning a lot it's still going to take 100-200 games for your rank to catch up with your actual MMR, and for your LP gains and losses to be the same rather than wildly different from each other. This is so people who "only play ranked" will play more, and hopefully spend more money. (While I did this on fresh accounts, it applies to "soft reset" accounts as well - just not to the same degree).

Riot doesn't care about ladder integrity or match quality. They just want you to grind and spend money.

It's because norms mmr is seperate from ranked. So an actual 'new' account can win like their first 2 iron provisional games, then play in gold elo or even higher in some weird cases due to their 100% wr. The problem is that this makes zero sense for norms mmr to be seperate. What other data is available to gage a player's baseline competitive performance? Bc of the ranked lock out until level 30, there is literally only norms. This system literally helps no one because smurfs who actually belong above their smurf account's elo will win regardless and climb.

I am glad its not only me. Its unranked players and silver 3 players that are sneaking into my high gold elo games and it is absolutely infuriating. I feel your pain.
