I play veigar and i always win my lane, get about 10-15 kills per game, carry my team, but always end up losing. I don't understand. In teamfights, I can barely do anything because I get focused on mainly and I die in like 2 seconds since I am so squishy. I can easily 1 hit kill their AP or AD carry but in a teamfight I never get close enough to even try. My team does no damage except me which is the problem. Is veigar unviable or something? As much kills as I get, I can never carry with veigar and I've lost a lot of games even when I do really good.

you should be the last guy running into the fight... and when you get there... you stun everyone and blow up anyone important if you see them come for you, well just blow them up

imo, burst mages only go as far as assassinating one high priority target before they go do nothing till CDs come back up for their next combo...most team fights usually dont last this long

veigar is pretty viable, his stun is RIDICULOUS you are gonna burn a flash or gap closer or something cuz u will stun their entire godamn team for a bajilion years

Its like dat spy vs spy shit, they can kill you just as easily as you can kill them soooo you might as well wait for them to go kill someone else before going in close to try and kill them

The meta is unfavourable to immobile mages such as Veigar, Vel'koz, Lux, etc. There's simply too many dashes, blinks, gap closers and mana-less champions in the League for the old school mages to be viable.

Culprits IMO: Yasuo ,Zed Akali

All are manaless and in Yasuo's case completely resource free and can dash and jump around all your spells and melt you in two seconds flat while staying relatively safe themselves via shadows, free wind shields and walls, or ulting back to a minion.

RIP every immobile mage

I am no expert on veigar but there are probably things you should be doing.

  1. If your team does no damage then you probably aren't using your "lead" effectively. Even though getting a lot of kills helps you get ahead, it becomes less effective in time. There is a reason why supports and junglers give kills (mostly) to the adc. Sharing the wealth gets there late game power spike to come sooner. If all the eggs are in one basket, then the enemy team will have one target. If you and the lets say adc or top laner are fairly fed, then the enemy team has to split their focus.
  2. If you "ace" the enemy team, take advantage. Kill dragon/baron, steal the red and blue buffs, take down turrets, etc. Do not recall or farm in your own jungle unless you have no choice. The longer the game is stalled--the better of a chance the enemy team has to come back.
  3. Since you tend to die so fast, you need to be more careful. Veigar is well-known for being easy to kill and focus since his scaling is never-ending. If you kill the enemy adc or apc, I would assume that you are either using your wall or flash to reach them. Using the wall on an enemy adc is good, but unless they are just as much of a threat as you are, you just used up your only escape (besides flash). Save the wall for when you get dived and/or to protect your adc.

Just my two cents. (SIlver II Janna main)

Veigar is the easiest mid in this game. If you can't even with with him you should uninstall. Seriously.

won't say on average how many deaths do you get per game? do you manage to delete their carry and not just blindly aim your ult at the nearest target then become useless when a team fight breaks out a few seconds later? do you roam if you win lane?
