Instead of balancing Katarina and LeBlanc around Gunblade...

Nerf the goddamn item!

After the nerfs to Katarina's E a few patches ago i noticed that people have started picking her up again as they started adapting to the nerf. So before the circlejerk starts spamming the boards with Katarina threads they should be aware that it has to do more with the item than with the champion itself. While Katarina can have such a perfect stat stick with an active that gives her cc and more damage she is never going to be balanced.

After the release of the assassin class rework she wasn't as oppresive because Rylai's was the broken item back then and everybody rushed it. Soon after the nerf of it everybody realized how efficient Gunblade is on her again and from there she started being a nightmare.

The item itself is overbearing. Good hybrid stats with a nice chunk of AP to it WITH an active that instantly deals damage and slows the target. The stats on it should be looked at and the active needs to be reworked. Either give it only the cc or a damage over time effect which will stop it from being so bursty.

Some champions might need to be compensated for the item nerf BUT STOP BALANCING CHAMPIONS AROUND ITEMS!
