What do people think about an in-game voice chat system?

I'm just curious to know peoples input on this. I am also aware of the toxic people in the community/game but that could be fixed with a mute button. It would be easy to issue alerts and commands to other teammates were there a voice chat system (imo).

nope, nope nope nope nope nope nope

NOPE.

It may be OK for NA or single langauge servers, but EU would be a mess.

For comparsion - I started to play Paladins. Didn't even know it has a voice chat. In my first game some kid started to give us commands in very bad English. I had to mute him and some other kid who started to argue with him.

Next game, we just joined lobby and first thing I hear is one guy talking to his mom in some weird language and another guy listening to some kind of... "music" I guess .... so loud it was unbearable.

At that moment I turned off the voice chat, never ever had a problem. Everybody uses either chat or in-game voice commands and I never had a problem.

Also I am flame-free from toxic players who just HAVE TO tell you how bad you are, because obviously it helps :-D

So, thank you,

but NO.

Btw. you reminded me of this funny video:

I'll give a personal perspective as a player in Plat (who has a Diamond-ish normal mmr).

I think voice chat would be great if done correctly. For me, I rarely come across the really toxic or even mildly asshole-ish players compared to other lower mmrs. The majority of my games none of the players even speak in chat, it's all pings and then it's a struggle to know who to honor afterwards since no one talked. I don't think it should be mandatory however. There should be a voice chat server for your team in the game that you have the option of joining, and only once you join can you hear and speak to the other people who have also joined the voice server (I don't want to hear the voices of people who have opted into voice chat when I have not). Not only that, but you should be able to mute individual people's voices similar to in game muting. That way, if I do not want to hear or speak to other people, I don't have to. If I don't have a mic but still want to listen to people, I can join the voice chat and lurk. And if I want to speak to people, I can join the server and use my mic.

Like others have said it could work if used correctly. But knowing the league community as a whole it won't be used properly. People will be toxic if not more toxic than ever before and I doubt Riot has the manpower to check every single reported incident. They still have problems with normal chat reports as well as other reported incidences and giving more problems before solving the ones they have now will just make matters worse!

Voice chat is only helpful when you know the people talking aren't toxic, but that's what Discord and Teamspeak are for, right?
