I heard of something like this a long time ago and it turned out if a player had Revive equipped at the time it was taken out, they keep it as their selected summoner spell until they switch it out for something else. Those lucky guys. (I'm not sure if it's relevant anymore, the player that you played with didn't even have it in their previous game.)
