Say 10 people get into a normal draft game and none of them own champions other than the free rotation. 6 bans means 4 champions are left to choose from, but 10 people still have to pick champions. What would happen in this case? i understand this is a highly improbable, almost impossible situation, but what would happen?

Only possible way for this situation to ever happen is all 6 bans being used on the 16 champions you owned, 9 were picked. And the last champion remaining is disabled due to a bug or something.
But the odds of this happening are really low. I mean to the point where it will be more likely for riot to shutdown the LCS forever.

Aren't you unable to join a draft game if you only own 16 champions and one of them is temporarily banned though?

I have no idea. But my guess is it would let you in anyways because riot most likely never thought of this situation when designing draft mode.

Mitch Sorenstein1 votesActually they have thought of it and you are required to have 16 available champions, whether you have them or they're on free rotation. At worst case scenario, you have 1 champion to pick. If any of the available 16 champions are disabled, you are considered to have 15 champions available to play, in that case you can't queue for draft.
