Gangplank said goodbye to a decent laning phase in patch 5.22

Gangplank is my by far my favorite champion to play. I love the globals, oranges, and Barrels!. Although, in a recent patch Riot got rid of his mana refund so other champs could compete with him mid game a little more. BUT THEN Patch 5.22 happened. No mana pots, No mana refund, No sustain in lane.

Now the only reason this is a problem is because Riot encouraged you to get Cs with your barrels and Parrrrley by offering Silver Serpents to upgrade your ult. But without any refund of mana you get with your Q, you can only get 10 to 15 creeps until your outta mana. Not to mention the other champion YOU HAVE TO LANE AGAINST. Riot please.....Help The GP MAINS IN THA WORLD!

True. Hes so fun still but he doesn't even do well anymore. Annoying shit like Varus fak him over in lane, and he runs out of mana so fast because I have to choose between buying one of those shitty flasks over rushing Trinity. And who would choose a flask?

They also removed Avarice which was a big part of getting ahead.

Overall gangplank is iffy and kinda bad right now unless you get far ahead, it's depressing that I don't get to play my fave champ comfortably and have him be decent

However, I found that rushing Sheen and then Manamune, then back to getting the rest of trinity force synergizes well with the new playstyle.

Barrels will proc Manamune and you can just parrley them while walking forward to lane, gp's manamune is very cheap to upgrade. Ionian boots and ghostblade seemingly make this a great strat to use and gangplank will do so much damage with parrrley. It is heavily reliant on not falling back in lane though, GP seems to be on thin ice

This is what happens when you make a bunch of balance changes right before preseason. Most of the GP nerfs wouldn't have been necessary now that mana pots are gone and games end quicker.

Been playing him nonstop. His early game is harsh with the mana situation, that is the best way to put it. I can't recall how many times I run out of mana, only to have two people try and tower jump me. It literally happens every game.

The only reason why this a big deal is because Gangplank had a very iconic "all dmg/crit" build which made him who he was. I mean, now you have to throw away some of that iconic-ness to worry about mana.

I haven't had too much trouble with mana.

If you're running down the cunning tree with the missing mana return and a sheen (or, for better effect [though highly unnecessary] a tear) I usually do fine early on.

This is a little late lol but for a fairly safe start I found that refillable pot and mana crystal wasn't too bad, plus it helps grab an early sheen. Hopefully gp's gonna get his refunds sometime soon item 3070 also yeah his early is definitely worse but I noticed he can sort of reach his power spikes sooner since with tri into ER he caps out cdr with 40% crit
