Will the assassin rework make them competitively viable?

I play league since season 4 and in season 5 I really got into esports and I have noticed how assassin shifted from being meta into being dumped because of better choices (cough* control mages cough*). With the upcoming rework and the stealth changes it seems like each assassin will be designed to fit into a specific niche and get unique ways to outplay and be outplayed by the opponent. Also let's not forget our friend that make them useless during a teamfight. Will this class update be enough to make them climb their way back into the pro scene or still control mages provide a better option for team comp? Will they ever be a competitive choice again? I really miss these sick plays with assassins (faker vs ryu), plus they're so cool to watch.

I'd like to see any be viable for pro play thats not Zed. Zed's just boring and child-proof with that passive of his. I'd love to see more Talons

That's the intention. The Assassin Update is supposed to add some counterplay to assassins in exchange for doing a bit more for their team.

Unless the fail their intendet 'more delayed kill patterns' idea, i asume they will get even less viable at high elos, tough probably as or even more frustraiting in 1v1 scenarios with more outplay potential. Don't get me wrong, i think the approach they make is totally correct, but changeing assasins alone won't solve the issue as long as ranged champs can output such rediculous damage and still offer good utillity or even more rediculous damage. In my last Zed game, i was relatively fed and still needed randuins as 3ed item just so i can 1v1 the opposing Jinx, cause else she kills me with ~3 AAs from full. Now, getting that defense item didn't stop me from haveing enough damage, though that only shows how much damage ther is in the game right now, and if you lower it on one end you need to lower it on the other end aswell.

No there is community outcry whenever an Assassin is even remotely viable and they get nerfed soon after. Some might be ridiculously overpowered on release and see some play then, but they'll get quickly gutted like they always do.
