Backdoor protection

The nexus should get damage reduction when there are no nearby enemy minions, similar to towers. I think it's a little absurd that someone can take down your nexus before you have time to even retaliate. Maybe give it a set % damage reduction based on how many inhibitors are alive.

Backdooring is an age old tactic that punishes enemies for their lack of map awareness. Map awareness is all the protection you need against it. The game should not be expected to baby sit players for their moments of incompetence.
