I wanted to get Aurelion Sol and wanted to know is he good

He was god tier a patch ago.
Post nerfs, he's okay. I'd venture to say still pretty strong in the hands of a main.
So it mostly depends on whether you feel like investing in his playstyle.
All complaints aside - he is a skill dependent champion.
Yes and no, he's pretty mediocre if you aren't good, and takes a lot of time to learn, but is a god once you do learn him.
He is really powerful but you won't be solo carring with him.
His early game power comes with his roaming potential, if your team mates can exploit your ganks you can easily get ahead and once you build 
and 
you will be a huge contribution to teamfights and catching opponents.
Anyway, your weaknesses are exploitable really easily too and if you misposition, waste your Ult or don't have a decent team you will most likely lose.
He was good, but he just got nerfed, so probably not worth it. You can probably still do well with him, but it would take 10+ games of practice first, because he is a very unique champion.
he was good upon release but now he SUCKS SO HARD, literally he basically is countered by everyone who has blink flash dash long cc or high mobility so around 90% champs counter him, only escape tool is ult and riot should know that escape tool cant be on 120 second cooldown like hello, then theres the e which has 60 seconds cooldown so you have an ability less than others, then your passive could and should be transferred to w passive so you are short of passive to, then you have a specific item path which if you dont follow you have even lower chance of winning... i so love his design and all and in the same time i so hate his kit and i really think he needs a rework, at least the one where his e becomes passive which grants movement speed when moving in same direction and maybe he will start flying automatically when you reach certain amo of stacks, then either his q could be instarecastable ( like anivias q ) or he can get something on his e that could be used as escape tool
high skill cap for slightly above average play.
has a lot of hard counters and is super item reliant.
he can be OP, but 9/10 times falls flat on his face.
