How not to KS in a close fight? ( as a support)

So if your carry is in a close fight that can go either way: should the support help attacking and risk taking the kill, or just use the protective spells and let carry fight?

For example, say if you are Morgana, should you use the pool* in a close fight or not? (*note: the pool does sustained dmg over a few seconds) .I did that in a close fight without intending to get the kill but ended up with the kill anyway, and the ADC was very mad about it. Is there a way to help attacking without risking ks?

What do you guys think?

If you have the option to give your ADC carry the kill, do. IE: Caitlyn ulti'ing a person with 50hp, and no one around them.

If it's even remotely close, go all out. They're going to be annoyed if you take the kill, but they're going to rage if they die and don't get a kill. -- Honestly, I don't mind who gets kills when I ADC. If you take my farm, I'll rage, but idm kills.

This. To simplify:

Always go all out unless the kill is absolutely garenteed. You'll get more used to this as you play, and as you play with better people you'll get more garenteed kills.

If you get the kill and the ADC rages, take a deep breath and say to yourself: "I won the money, the money is mine!" If you are ahead, your ADC is ahead. If you are ahead, you can make more opportunities for the ADC to get a kill or at least farm safer.

Best of all, if you keep getting more kills, you're the carry now. There is no lose unless you can't make the enemy lose farm and xp, or your carry can't CS. The only half down is you got a mad ADC that doesn't know how to be carried.

It is better to get the kill and have the bronze or silver ADC rage at you then have them die while enemy gets away and/or kills you and and then having the ADC rage at you.

If you are not trying for the kill in a team fight you are trying to lose.

Just take the kill who cares

The difference between a kill and an Assist is like 5 CS

Honestly you're fine. The adc was just being a selfish prick.BTW was it by chance either a Vayne or Ezreal ?

Just kill the enemy.

Meh, your if your adc was close to dying he should say thanks and not rage at you. Be careful with that Morg pool though as it scaled on an enemies missing % hp I believe

If you can give your ADC the kill without any risk (of either escape or death), feel free to do so. They are generally more dependent on the gold and it helps get them closer to completing their major power-spikes.

Otherwise, just focus on killing the enemy. You should get enough pressure from having killed the enemy that your ADC can get a lead in farm and experience (while the enemy is set further behind). It's better to take the kill on a support than to risk trading kills or outright losing the kill gold.

If the ADC gets mad about it, then it's generally a sign that they have a poor attitude and mindset.

Just take it unless you know your ADC can get it.

Keep attacking, if you take the kill it's whatever, better than the enemy getting the kill on your ADC then turning it into a double, I take kills all the time as support, helps me get my items faster. I've had supports apologize to me for taking kills, I always tell them not to apologize, the enemies is dead, they did good, no reason to be sorry.

If it is ever a close fight or you think they might escape, always take the kill.

If your a squishy support main like me, and the losing enemy turns to you and is chunking you quickly, kill them immediately. No matter what. Relying on your ADC when your life is at stake is not something you want to ever do.

99% of ADCs will just be happy that nobody on their side died and that their opponent is dead and missing CS or losing a tower.

KSing is only bad when your opponent has the upper hand in the fight and you last hit or ignite.

kills man. Who cares who gets them. Unless you know 100% that you carry will kill someone without dying then you should try and help and if you get the kill you get the kill.

First of all I'm typing this to relieve some stress. I play all role (except jungler with support being my best one, as such I know that I'm not the best player. My problem with supports can be broken into 2-3 forms:

  1. Some are to passive and end up taking the kill after I die (sometimes I don't even get the assist for it), this happens a few times and I end up being accused of feeding. They usually use poke supports or tanks.

  2. Some kill then leave me alone in the lane, they get a bunch of assists and kills in other lanes, while I 1v2 (1v3 cause the jg or mid always shows up) against enemies that are 2-3 levels higher. This usually happens against strong enemy laners, which should give them more incentive to try and keep me (the adc) safe. The jg also tends to not show up often in this scenario.

  3. Finally there are those that are doing a kind of good job, then the team fight I use my skills to damage the enemy but the supports somehow gets the kills. Ex Sona comes along and attack 2-4 clearly dead enemies sandwich between me and the other players, taking the Quadra.

**often its a combination of this three things that happens.

Now, I'm not saying that supports should never get the kill. I agree with everyone if its necessary to keep someone alive or to guarantee it its okay. But after that there is no reason for the adc to not get the kills. To answer your question, there is no good way to attack and not risk ks. To guarantee you don't ks you either attack when its early (enemies are above 50%) or you heal/shield/boost the adc/team, but this gives the enemy a chance to recover. If the enemy has high armor or sustain, attacking is encouraged to prevent escapes and comebacks, although damage over time is not preferred at low hp if you don't want ks.
