League of Legends is not the game, I knew..

ThatOneCharacter··72 votes·16,070 views

My current thoughts about this game: I still remember those day's, when I could play this game all day long, and not regret a second. Yeah there were minor issue's, but they aren't as big as now. Now, the game is a total mess for me. I just can't enjoy it any longer. And I think a lot of people can relate to me, because, if you remember League's earlier day's, it was just so fun to gather around with your friends, and just enjoy a good match -es. Right now, none of my friends are playing League, because they hate it how it turned out, or just how Riot Games are taking care of the game. That's all I had to say, because I think at least some people can relate to me, and probably agree.. Thank you for reading.

I think alot of players just stay because there are no other competitive or moba games out there. If someone would make another similar moba but with a logical balance riot would lose a shitton of players.

Escheton1 votes

even if there are, it's gonna need a lot of convincing for me to relearn an entire new map, meta and champ roster. I'd rather play this, enjoy it a bit less and play more ARAM because then "the balance doesn't matter and the rules are made up" just makes for a good laugh.

I like the occasional game. Hard to walk away from the fun of Sion Support.

That and money invested into the game. If not for those I would quit yesterday.

Paragon was a very good candidate, but it was abandoned and didn't even manage to slip out of beta because of Fortnite.

I miss Paragon.

At least Epic put all the Paragon assets (including characters) up in their game engine store for free, so in theory some fans could rebuild it.

ExpStealer1 votes

This isn't ever going to happen. Epic Games won't let anyone build a better version of their own game, especially with their own assets, because greed.

DrCyanide4 votes

They already agreed to it by making it available on their marketplace for free.

There is a catch that satisfies "greed" though - you have to use the models with Epic's game engine, you can't export them to anything else. Another successful game on their engine lures more people in.

No competitive MOBAs

HotS? It's a great game You have plenty of other options to choose from. Heroes of Newreth (what i played before League came out), DotA or Dota 2 are still there.

Hügö2 votes

First it was "competitive or moba". It doesn't change that all of them play a bit strange. If they had the normal game mechanics as league had I would switch faster as Zed could one shot you.

Tomoe Gozen1 votes

So you're looking for a game that plays like League but isn't League?

Hügö2 votes

So like league with an reasonable balance.

Incoming predictable response of denial.

"You're just too tired of the game! Take a break! There's NOTHING wrong with League!"

Cavesloth3 votes

Lols right? Just take a break its DEFINITELY not that that they changed the entire style of the game. Nope definitely not that.

ChallengerTier1 votes

if you dont like it then quit, what the fuck is the point of complaining? did you expect the game to stay the same for the past 8 years?

Cavesloth1 votes

I didn't expect it to change from a Moba to glorified COD deathmatch mobile game. That's a pretty big change. And I did quit, back in April once it was clear Riot didn't give a fuck about the players that made them what they are today.

ChallengerTier1 votes

"mobile game" ?XDDD great insults u got bud

and wdym by "deathmatch", they buffed all objectives with baron nerf dragon buffs and turret plating, only reason you think its a deathmatch is because ur a gold player

Cavesloth1 votes

Buffed objectives? ROFL they fold quicker than an origami expert. And the rank shaming, wow so original. For a challenger I'd think you'd have heard better insults up there.

ChallengerTier1 votes

??? theyre stronger than they were in s7 are you on fucking crack or smth? tell me what's changed that made them weaker, you havent played the game since april apparently so you have no clue what ur talking about. and what's wrong with rank shaming, no one with over 3 brain cells takes any <d3 player's "opinions" on balance seriously

Cavesloth1 votes

Doesn't matter if objectives are stronger if damage is too. You can masturbate all you want over how great this early tower buff is, but the fact is damage is still so high from the previous season that after the plating drops they crumple like wet toilet paper, and that's saying nothing for how easy any of the other objectives are, or the ridiculous snowball mechanics that never should have been introduced in the first place that make the game feel like shit to play, or the fact that damage is so high strategy and depth phoned into to work with cancer and will never be coming back.

What's wrong with rank shaming? If you don't know, you never will, and aren't worth my time, but clearly someone with no empathy deserves this pile of shit of a game. Congrats you got what you deserved.

I feel you. I used to love this game with all my heart and could easily play 12 games in a row only to stop because I needed to sleep. Now I just get bored/frustrated after 2-3 games.

The amount of damage everyone does right now turns 'team fights' into the most boring 3 seconds of button mashing I ever had to experiece. I miss season 3/4.

Pretty much my thoughts, season 3/4 were the best.

That sounds to me like you grew up. But let League take the blame for you not being able to play 12 games in a row and keep that gleeful look in your eyes about still experiencing new things every game. That's also what happens when you play any game for years and you learn over time what works and what doesn't.

Nah. I actually started playing pretty late and absolutely adored it for five years straight. As soon as pre-season 8 hit the server, I strongly disliked the turn gameplay took.

My passion didn't slowly burn out, it instantly vanished as every game suddenly seemed to be a frustrating oneshot fiesta. I do not blame the game, however, I do blame the balancing decisions, yes.

Honestly this game pisses me off now days if I play it for more than a week every few months. Why I'm level 80ish. The game used to be about tactics. It could last an hour or more per match (had an 8 hour game once).

Now it's about picking 4 champions that oneshot and one monster that tries to keep the other 4 from oneshotting your 4. That's not tactics. It's just irritating half the time.

I am all in favor of more 1 hour games, but 8 hours is pushing it a little hard. XD

I've been playing League for 4 years now and I am still playing till this very day. My friends went to play Fortnite (Lol) Times change, games change. You gotta get used to it. My personal thoughts about League is that...back in the day you had learn everything for yourself, now you can just look up the Internet for counters or builds on any champion made by better players which gives you an advantage.

Funny how your 'personal thoughts' came from a youtube video.

It has nothing to do with looking up the optimal way to play, Riot has just straight up ruined the game with stupid changes like the Rune system mobility creep and damage creep.

Season 4 was not the time where you had to learn everything yourself, maybe you just discovered the internet later? There were definitely "best builds" sites back then. Season 3 starter here.

I've have been around this game for a very long time...Let me say this any true league player that's been here since about...season 3 at least will side with you. Those that don't are either generally very high elo (The game IS catered to them afterall), not likely a true league player (as this game went from being a 40+ minute game to a 15-25 minute game which few real league players would like), or just trolling you.

Sailor Galaxia5 votes

I definitely agree. I've been playing since Season 1 and it is definitely not the same and all the friends that used to play with me have left the game. I am not a fan of the games current state and I can't get into it so I usually only play ARAMs now for the fun of it. It's not that serious to me anymore and I don't play as much (sometimes take long hiatuses) as I used to. Kinda sad.

I have quit league long time ago, It was hard at the beginning but then I just started playing some offline games or other mobas/mmorpg games and that's how my addiciton for league has quit. Now I can't imagine me playing league anymore, feels like a total new game to me. Wouldn't try it ever anymore.

deadlychuck2 votes

I mean it's literally not the same game. Just like that axe your grandfather gave you isn't the same axe anymore.

AugustHeatHaze2 votes

its still a pretty good axe

deadlychuck1 votes

lol I think people just aren't getting the reference and/or can't be bothered to google

but yes, it's still a decent axe since you didn't replace the functionality.

AugustHeatHaze1 votes

i dont actually know why people are down voting you because if you don't know where its from one could think that you are agreeing with op

league has changed gently over time and its still pretty good!

deadlychuck2 votes

Haha even you got downvoted this time.

The thing is however, I am agreeing with the OP to a fair degree. The game is undeniably different to the point of being a different game at this point. A good number of people along the way will not like how the game has changed. That's just the nature of agile development.
Even if you call it the same thing, have the same art, and use the same character names, that doesn't mean that it's mechanically anything like how it use to be after years of replacing kits, items, and systems. I think just about the only thing that hasn't changed so dramatically that it's blatantly different is the summoner spell system.

AugustHeatHaze1 votes

ohh

yea I was focusing on the pretty good part which is where you do disagree, at least I think?

There was a time when I would que for another game the instant the previous game ended/the post-game trash talk ended. Now, I generally have to take anywhere from 10-60 minutes break in between each match, that's even when I win. How sad is that, that even when I win, I still feel stressed out enough from the game to need a break. But here I am, still playing the game. There's been several times where I took a few months to a whole season off, but for the most part, I have played since late 09, and I will probably keep playing, but it will never be the same as it was for the first 5 or 6 years.

Yeah there were minor issue's, but they aren't as big as now.

I think there were always issues but the big thing that changed was the playerbase. Back in the day average skill was super low and players had no idea what was good, bad or otherwise. There was some broken shit the likes of which pales in comparison to the stuff today but nobody was smart enough to take advantage of it or not. (Besides like 1-2 trendsetters. Throwback to Trinity-kog.)

It's kind of the same problem vanilla WoW is going to run into: Yeah, we were all fuckin' bad at the game in 2004/5. But today, people have theorycrafted vanilla to hell and back. The only thing stopping people from steamrolling content when it launches are droprates and needing 40 peeps.

What are you talking about? The game is still broken nearly every patch.

ModCaptainMårvelous2 votes

As it is every patch.

Again, everyone just wasn't smart enough to see the sick nasty broken op. It took until about Season 3 or 4 for both players to find out about AP Yi and for Riot to do something about him. About three years.
