Unlocked Camera settings

I'm having a painful time trying to learn to play unlocked camera (i get that relearning is rough), and it just seems like half of the info on forums and youtube just say you should use unlocked, and why. Useful info has included press mouse wheel, use smooth scrolling, adjusting sensitivities, using space bar and Y, and useful places to try to place the camera. Unless someone can really sell it, i don't see using WASD for cam move and relearning ability, item, and most other buttons. I'm wondering what sensitivities people use aside from the default of ~50 for mouse and cam. Any advice is welcome. Thanks

It sounds like you are looking for a way to make learning that easier. I'm not sure there is one. It's gonna be tricky for you, at first. Just set the sensitivity on something that is slow enough that you aren't over-scrolling a lot, and keep at it. You'll get there eventually. :)

Everybody has a different playstyle. For example: Lustboy never locks camera ever. He's always panning by moving his mouse to the sides of the screen. Doublelift always locks camera. He occasionally pans but in fights he's always locked.

To do a mix of both, I began by holding space non-stop while playing. When that developed as a habit and I defaulted to holding space, I started letting go of space whenever panning the screen via edges to look at something, then holding space again after I'm done looking at it. Eventually I became proficient enough to switch between the two.
