What's the purpose of a smurf account?
I'm just curious. I've never really played League all that much until recently and it's been a subject I've wondered about since I came back to the game.

There are lots of purposes, such as:
ect
Personally? The single smurf is so I can go wander over elsewhere and play lanes I'm bad at without insta-losing the game for other folks. Not to mention play a few champions I don't even have on the main account. (The main account has over 60+ champions unlocked. The smurf is sitting on like 15.)
But when you play Support and Jungle pretty decently because of map awareness and understanding your limits (and hundreds of games played)... but get stomped at least half the time you get sent top lane because you just haven't played those match-ups over and over... you're going to have a bad time against gold+ opponents.
To ruin other peoples day and make you feel better about yourself
Play ARAM only with Lux and Varus to annoy other people ;)
One or more of the reasons listed below:
Stuff like that.
Guess I haven't been playing long enough, or am good enough to justify making a new account. Although, these responses have me wondering if the lower ranks are such a pain in the ass to play in has anything to do with so many smurf accounts ruining the dynamic of a ranked system.
I have 6 level 30 accounts, 4 of which i actually play on. My main, a one trick pony acc, lower elo one where i pick whatever i feel like, and one for practicing ADC
I first created a smurf because I was really bad at most champions, but I had a moderately high MMR because I only spammed Sona and Eve back when they were OP. So I had no skills or understanding of most roles and decided creating a smurf would be the best bet to learn.
