how do you beat akali with lux?

um okay so title says it all... Lux is my main mid champ, but I got owned last game by an akali (I was also lagging so my fps was delayed; it was around fps 7) and we didn't have a proper jungler (it was TEEMO jg) and he didn't gank any lanes at all, but how exactly do you beat an akali with lux? Apparently she supposedly shits on squishy ap casters like lux, how do you counter her?

I don't know much about akali since I only played her once during free week, but for some reason she wasn't as hard to play as I thought.

I had an Akali repeatedly dive me pre-6 under my turret once...I got 3 kills just by snaring her over and over again...they were so bad xD

That hilarious memory aside...stay the hell away from her. The second you get within her range, you're most likely gonna die. Stay back, poke her frequently, and manage your mana carefully. If the Akali sees that you're low, they'll know that they can dive you with little to no risk. The same applies to you wasting your snare; don't use it unless you're sure it will hit, since that's Lux's only real way of stopping her. If she's low and is trying to run, try to get your full combo off on her, and try not to only rely on your ult to finish her off...it's too risky. If you can, try and Ignite her if you run Ignite + Flash, but know that there's a possibility that she could dive you as a last ditch attempt to take you out with her.

As A Wild AP Sona said, you most likely won't win the lane as Lux; in fact, I almost never do unless my enemy majorly screws up and feeds me. Survive until teamfights, then CC the high priority targets, shield your team, and combo when it's ideal to do so. Against Akali, try to bait her, or wait for her to try and go all in in an unideal situation for her, then CC her and let your ADC or bruiser wipe the floor with her. You shouldn't really try to take her out yourself unless you know that you can, with little to no risk. Just in case, use your W on yourself (try and get it to hit your team too) before you try and finish her off, just to be safe. Never can be too careful when playing against Akalis...

True, I had one game I went 15/1/17 as lux and I lost lane... it worked out alright because I roamed a bit and ulted some low health champions. sigh akali wasn't that hard to play for me (I played akali during free week awhile ago) but I don't have her so I don't know how she works anymore; all I've heard is that she's extremely broken.

There is literally no counterplay against her burst, since it's all point-and-click (except for her E, which is PBAoE, but since she has a targeted dash it might as well be point-and-click) and just about near instant damage, similar to Katarina. Akali is the second most banned champ this month, according to LolKing, and has a ban rate of 38.26%, so...it's not just you that has a problem with her. I've always hated playing against her as anyone but Annie; she hits like a tank and is slippery as hell to boot. She's incredibly annoying late game, since you basically have to have a pink ward trinket to really do anything against her.

Dang... I don't play ranked, so im not really sure who's banned or picked as often. The only thing I know is during draft pick it goes akali, fizz, and yi (the most I've seen).

I haven't considered playing annie against akali yet, but I guess I will do that sometime for a counterpick. I assume annie does pretty well against champs like Kat and akali, at least.

I remember akali was pretty point-and-click... Why is she easier to play but harder to counter play? Ugh it confuses me

Annie pretty much wrecks them. She's encouraged to build fairly tanky (Rod of Ages and/or Rylai's), yet has the CC and burst to be able to pin them down and wipe the floor with them single-handedly, once she has enough AP. Wanna see something hilarious? Wait for an Akali to use her Shroud, then plop Tibbers right on top of her. Boom, death by DoT. Still not dead? Fire off a W. That should do the trick.

Her counterplay basically amounts to this: don't get near her, try and gold starve her, and pink ward her Shroud. You can't dodge anything in her kit, so there's no outplay potential besides baiting her into doing something stupid. You have to rely on Akali players doing something stupid or overcommitting, since there's no other way you're going to do good against them, that is unless your jungler camps your lane and helps you make sure that that Akali won't be catching up in gold any time soon.

HOLY CRUD

ANNIE IS GREAT I had her for awhile but I never played her that often

BUT she's won lane every time for me omg I won lane against orianna, yasuo and vel koz (Technically ori and Vel should out range me) but I did the flash tibbers combo XD it's great omg

Buy pinks, and try to hold your ult until she is low enough. That's really it. There is no counter item for her other then a pink ward in her circle.

Lord Dusteon1 votes

Try to harass her early game, and if she hides in her shroud place and detonate your E quickly.

Otherwise, IF you can kill her pre 6/ ~30 seconds after she hits 6, go b and get a pink ward + your normal buy. If she tries to jump you, place the pink and combo her. Overall though, if you can't poke her out of lane or kill her you'll have to play somewhat safe and make sure bot + top know when she roams.

Thanks for the advice, I never really thought about placing pink wards in her shroud for vision. I'll do that next game :)

Harass with W, try to bait out her R and then Q her (and follow up with R whenever you can).

61413860_DEL1 votes

W is her shield, do you mean her e?

Direwolfiez1 votes

Most likely, but I like to screw with people by occasionally throwing out her W and making them flinch, making it easier to land Q + E + AA + E + AA combos. It actually works pretty well, at least if they don't know Lux very well (don't rely on this, it'll screw you over sooner or later), or they are used to dodging her E and Q that they just automatically flinch.

61413860_DEL1 votes

Oh, so basically just tricking them and somewhat baiting out their skills? IMMA TRY THAT SOMETIME

There's no sarcasm in this I swear I'm just an excitable person

Direwolfiez1 votes

Pretty much. Most people will get used to Luxs only using offensive spells in lane, so they'll occasionally burn their mobility to dodge what they think is her snare. Makes me lol every time.

Oh, yeah, I meant E. Sorry, I don't play Lux very much.

lux cant beat anyone 1v1 unless they are suffering from some kind of mental condition its not about winning your lane as lux its about lasting until end game without dying in lane/falling too far behind in cs buy 3-4 mana pots per recall and farm safely with e until your turret goes down

its ok to farm using AA until level 3-4 but after that you need to gtfo and farm with e only and wait for farm to push to turret anything besides playing carefully will guarantee you are a 300 gold pinata for any non garbage jungler in high elo like j4/vi etc

you need to get 3-4 core items before you are viable in team fights (morello/mejai/athene and boots ideally)

run teleport and get fed off teleganks on bot lane

~ ex #2 lux stats world with an average of 3 kills per death/4.5 kills per death on smurf in diamond elo http://www.twitch.tv/awildapsona stop by my stream if you want to talk about it/see some gameplay :>

literally my first 500 games of league were lux mid or dodge and she was my first ever champion I bought with rp after playing some games with ashe

Akali plays right into Lux's Q. If you can spot when Akali is gonna try and jump you, you'll be fine.

Lux shouldn't have too much of a problem with the likes of Akali, especially if you get farmed / fed. The biggest assassin's she has a problem with are the teleport-happy ones (Talon, Katarina, Zed). It's important to keep your head on straight when someone like Akali, Diana, or Kha'zix comes at you. Most of the time, it's engage-or-escape for them. They can rarely do both, so if you don't panic and play smart you can turn tables on them.

Specifically against an Akali, you want to watch out when she hits 6 (since that's when she'll start jumping at your face) and when she completes her Hextech Gunblade. Both of these events are power spikes for her.

And always remember that the tower is your friend and people underestimate it's damage and range when they get that tunnel vision on a low-health champ. W as soon as they move in for that jump. As soon as they come at you, get that binding off. That'll be two or three tower shots they eat, and your W will be coming back around the second shot. Can't tell you how many times I had this exact situation play out.

Mostly it comes down to harassment, not panicking when they ult onto you, and learning to spot the enemy's tell when they're gonna jump.

Thanks lol; I haven't played against a zed or talon luckily so far (in fact I just got back into mid; I'm a support main XD) but I get pretty scared with assassins in my lane, so (I know this is bad) but I ping for my jungler and just wait for them to go in so I can q-e-r them.
