Speaking on hate towards Ghostcrawler and Game balance in itself
So just saw this on the front page of reddit. Been playing league for a good 5 years so i feel like ive had a pretty good idea of how the games has changed over the years. Now i know alot of these points being made against ghostcrawler and riot can be true. But alot of the comments are people just stating a lopsided opinion in the league community. I feel like alot of people are not really thinking about league of legends when it comes to whats "OP" and what needs to be changed. Some of the comments seem to be just opiniated aspects of the game that do not abide to your terms of fun and playable. at the end of the day there will always be People with and against a certain genre/ aspect of a game. You NEED to remember that league of legends is a game being made along the way, as more and more people join the community and time goes on, things are going to change and views on the game are going to alter. And with that comes a few key points. Number 1 being that It is never possible to please anyone, the biggest dilema caused by this is with dynamic queue and the procedures that go into trying to make it as acceptable and comfortable as possible. Number 2 is the big one though, as a company riot is learning along the way. League of legends has consisted of monthly and even weekly updates for over half a decade. The game is evolving andwill continue to evolve until who knows when, and with this comes the position that riot is in. Trying to shape a game around their community. Community favorites, Unlikeable aspects of the game, Fresh content to introduce and entice a new audience aswell as the Esports scene. League is a rediculously complex game when you take a step back and actually realise its potential. Yes riot has made mistakes (this includes Ghostcrawler) But i do not think it helps when alot of the comments are just pointless statements with no followup. Its harder than it actually is to get a community that reaches in the millions to give relative and viable feedback to an organisation (not too sure about riots enployment in certain areas but i doubt its ny higher than 50 in areas like design & gameplay) with a much lesser number of people. There will be easier ways to get information to one another in the future, but this isnt what weve got now, and in the future some thing swill still be harder to talk about than others. We need to give some credit to people like Ghost crawler, in all honestly he may have some background in world of warcraft, but behind closed doors league of legends is bigger than anything else in the world when it comes to gaming communites, and its tougher than alot of people make it out to be. Also If you are a casual player in league of legends, i dont mean to sound off but you have a very small say in comparison to the competetive seen when it comes to this game. League of legends has evolved from a casual game, it has surpassed that. Therefore it needs to keep focus on the areas where its attention is the highest and most exciting. besides competetivity in a game is essential and a key element in balancing. Sure there are champions like Galio and Yorick which rarley get seen because they are not suited for the comp' scene, but their times will come, and this goes for other champions/ items and even other areas of the game such as maps and game types. Point being that if you do not like the competetive scene, you my friend should play some cod zombies with your friends or maybe even some Diablo. Because as stated earlier league has become much more than wha it was 6 years ago, and if you cant see that the competitive experience in league of legends is one of the biggest thing keeping this game growing with an estatic and new feel, then you are mistaken. PS. @GhostCrawler i know you've been getting alot of hate and you probably dont care too much. I personally dont see why you should, but if you are just know that alot of us appreciate the fact that the game is still playable, some people might state otherwise but the games growing in size says otherwise. Thankyou so much for the effort that you and the team put in, its enough for me and my mates to log onto everynight after a big day or at the start of a young weekend. Rant over. Thankyou Riot for the last few years <3
Edit: Most of the people to have commented on this so far seem to be the people i was original pointing out when it came to alot of unjustifiable opinions. Feelsbadman. If people actaully wanted to ehlp rather than just going with the minority and chuckng a fit, league would be a much cleaner game.
TLDR: Insufficient justification on some of the questions and statments given to Ghostcrawler & Riot. -League is constantly growing, and so are the areas in which riot needs to address to acompany their ever growing audiance. -Clarity is key not just for the game creators, but the players -If you are a casual player who has alot of problems with the game, you need to accept that league of legends has become too big to consider every single tiny miniscule opinion into the game. It will aim to please the largest percentage possible, thats just how it is when it comes to numbers. -Dont hate on the devs please. They not only have to deal with the constant problems that their community finds for them ( Which isnt bad, its good that we are pointing out errors) But also dealing with things that they do not like about their own game, and also areas such as the competetve scene.
