@Meddler I noticed that Garen isn't really a optimal pick in high ELO, do you plan on remedying him?

Garen as a whole is a very tanky, outright damage soaker with plenty of damage that he can deal himself. However in high elo such as Challenger and LCS, he's lacking in the necessities for him to be selected. I think this is due to his inability to close gaps at most times (unless he has flash) and that his passive is easy to punish with little reward in it. I am not a expert at Garen or any champion, much less this game, however I just would like to see if the league of legends team is taking action towards our beloved general of Demacia.

I am not trying to be rude or pushy at all by this post I'm just a curious top laner who wants to see Demacia yelled through the LCS.

From my point of view , Garen is a champ from a completely different League of Legends era . From the era when mobility wasn't omnipresent ... That's why you don't see him in challenger or LCS .

But , there are still some Garen mains out there . Some of them are diamond and I heard about one reaching Master tier with him .

I admit that every time i say " Garen main " i'm hella surprised , but then again i remind myself something different " There are some people who main Aatrox ?" Yes they are ... Like me ^^

It's kinda sad to not see Garen in game , i really like him , and i don't mind at all getting OS by him .

Pretty hard to balance a champion for high elo who is designed for newer players.

Nasus had 1 trick mains in masters. garen has never seen play in that sort of rating. a champion having a simple kit and being easy to pick up doesnt mean he should be held back in higher ratings. and i dont think that riot is actually aiming for that case.

as the recent Warwick update proves, it is possible to design champions to be easy to pick up for new players, while theyre still viable even up into challenger.

Whilst Nasus and Warwick have simple kits they are more 'difficult' than Garen, and have higher skill ceilings.

Not saying Garen is impossible to balance for both lower and higher elos, he just needs substantial changes to get there.

all juggernauts lack gap closers. and compared to some of the other juggernauts, garen isnt slow.

he has other issues that make his kit dysfunctional.

note sure if serious...

Garen is a complete beginner champion.. he has no resource of any kind. he takes almost zero skill

he is VERY good in low elo. You could even make an argument to call him "OP" although i wouldn't quite go that far

and your complaining about how bad he is in higher elo?

i mean.. if it were possible to make him balanced in every elo i would say "go for it".

but if ANY champion if going to be BAD at higher elo... it SHOULD be a braindead beginner champion like Garen.

i mean not every champsion is going to be viable in challenger and LCS... that frankly is NEVER going to happen.. a if ANYONE should be complaing about not being good enough for be picked in challenger and LCS... i dont think garen would be in the top 100 on my list...

If you make garen viable in high elo he will be perm banned in low elo because his current kit is way too broken to be buffed. Maybe if they removed the absurd silence from his q and change his passive you could buff him.

I agree, I'm just wondering if we'd be able to see more of him in LCS and Challenger, his kit needs a bit of work but I think it may be worth it.
