I get no ganks

Hello fellow summoners

Whenever I'm in top lane during a match and holding my lane as with getting kills, how come the jungle doesn't come gank top? Or does he/she assume that I don't need help? I would like to kill the turret faster, but I understand the jungler needs to think about the other lanes too.

This is why Top lane is considered an island. Think about it like this:

If he ganks top lane and gets your or himself a kill what else does he gain? MAYBE a turret? Obviously not baron. What does he lose by ganking top? If he shows himself top lane, that relieves pressure off of the enemies bot lane, it means the enemy jungler can gank bot or mid without fear of a counter gank. If the enemy jungler has a successful gank in bot or mid, what can he gain? Dragon.

On the other hand, if your jungler is ganking bot lane or mid lane, that can mean a free dragon for your team, it can mean getting kills for your carries.

Dont think of it as, he doesnt care about you, or doesnt think you need help, think of it as, there are more important objectives near the bot lane than their are near the top lane.

This comment was very insightful. I never thought of it like that. Thanks

Bot and Mid are the lanes with your carries and closest to objectives. Chances are if you successfully gank either of those 2 lanes you just got yourself a dragon for your team and gave them the edge.

I usually gank mid when I'm capable of pushing the enemy turret, to give a hand to the person in mid.

Do you ask for ganks? Do you ask for help taking turrets? If not then don't expect the jungler to know what you want. That being said even if you ask for help you might not get it, but you don't ask you never will.

I only ask if the junglers not helping lanes or getting drag. Only if he/she is close to where I'm at

If you are ahead so your work is warding and snowballing as hard as you can. Since you do this, you can force enemy jungler come to help his top lane or his top lane become shit. And once enemy jungler show up, your team can get dragon or take bot turrets.

I ward a lot in top lane in the early and mid stage of the game. Late game I start to ward the enemy jungle to prevent baits or ambushes

It also depends on what you play. Personally I play a lot of Heimer and I'd rather my jungle gank bot and mid a lot till I take first tower bc if I ward I can generally stay safe and half the time I can 1v2 the jungle and my lane if I've poked my lane below half before they get there. If I take first tower I'll push out and go bot after buying and duo drag w/ our jungle. Then I'll ask jungle to farm top jungle while I push to second tower and ask for them to watch my wards and try to counter gank their jungle when he comes to kill me. Works well generally and it's just all about communication w/ my jungle.

I like diving sometimes so I'll ask jungle for that, but otherwise I'm pushed and hope the jungle doesn't come top bc w/out dive we aren't killing my lane and jungle is just leeching exp from me. On rare occasion I play nasus and will ask for a gank (especially if we have AD jungle who can use my armor shred on fire) when the enemy is pushing in and I can tell my jungle where they warded (ie, they warded tri so use your eq jarvan to go over the baron pit and come up the river) and that works well.

I ward often in top lane to see if the enemy jungle is coming my way. I don't push too hard unless I know or see the enemy jungle elsewhere

The whole point of top lane is to try and take pressure off of the other lanes by forcing the ENEMY jungler to gank you. This way, YOUR jungler is free to deal with other lanes and perhaps secure dragon.

Ah I see, act as bait or a decoy to get the enemy jungle to focus on me. Never thought of it like that. Thanks

That's pretty much what I do when I play top lane...and I never expect my jungler to gank for me...puts you at a better mindset...you should never rely on your jungler to win your lane...If your losing maybe he can poke his head around once in a blue moon but I don't ever expect dedication up there...

Ganking bot lane can net you a double kill and put their marksman behind which makes your mid and lategame stronger than theirs, if only temporarily.

Ganking mid lane can get you a lot of map control, and midlaners are typically strongest in the early-mid game with a few exceptions.

Ganking top lane gets you a strong split pusher.

So based on the above, there are a lot of reasons to gank both bot and mid lane and there's only one really good reason to go top. Sure if you have a snowballing top like Riven it may help to get her rolling with a gank or two, but she can snowball off of roams if her lane is going poorly anyways. For the most part they can (and should) be able to take care of themselves.

I remember losing a dragon because I have gank top-lane between 8 minutes - 12 minutes of the game. Crap...I suck I know. Now, I tell myself, when I jungle, to scout the area near dragon at that time. Usually, it's when the first dragon is taken or so I think ...

But also, I remember yesterday playing Pantheon jungle and my Fiora top pings constantly for assit even if the Vladimir was under turret. Ok, I don't want to dive that even with his passive. Vladimir has a great way to escape too. XD Normaly, as a poor jungler (yeah, I am trying to learn the role) I gank top when it's easy. When the enemy laner is very close to my tower.
