Why Caitlyn needs major changes

Over the past few patches ive personally seen a lot more Long guns of the law Caitlyn feeding their asses off in botlanes be it mine or the enemies. While the vast majority of them do poorly KDA wise, they tend to do well in farm and are around the same stage in their build as the enemy adc.

When ive asked the players why they pick cait over other adcs, the primary answer i've gotten is her auto attack range. The only competition to her 650 AA range is a late game Tristana, a Jinx (with a maxed Q), and a Twitch with ult active, making her very appealing to many people as it provides easy harass while avoiding the enemys AAs. However she lacks mobility (one small dash every 16ish seconds), and she truly lacks sustained damage compared to other ADCS. ive watched a 4 item Vayne,Lucian,Ashe, and even Urgot be able to 1v1 a 4 item Caitlyn without even losing half of their hp.

From witnessing these slaughters ive come to realize how much of a feast or famine kit cait has. She has SO MUCH potential to just burst people down with those headshot crit combos especially if they are trapped. However, she can only activate these headshots every 7 autos (a few less if she gets a little closer to her enemies and has item 3085 or is in a bush). without those headshots her damage is negligible to the other adcs, and they will easily get into range and kill her unless somebody can create a 500ish unit berth around her. I suppose in a well organized team this could be accomplished, but when not in a 5 man group allies leave you behind, or enemies can summoner 4 in. Generally i've seen she gets dumpstered on because of these flaws.

Even her spells fall off late game. Her Q is good though the early and mid game but by late game even if it hits the enemy adc directly it does about 300 damage while the adc will just crit her for 500 to 700. Her ult isnt that spectacular either. While the damage on it is just fine and it can burst even tanks, it is negligible compared to somebody like Jhin and his ult. Which has about the same range but can output about 4x the damage and apply crowd control while doing so.

TLDR: Im just tired of seeing so many Caitlyns get chosen just because people wanna have an easier time in lane but them get destroyed by an adc who can output almost twice the damage she can with the same items. The amount of flaming, and afking coming from people playing Caitlyn because they become useless is saddening to see. People see the potential in her but it is so hard to actually achieve and the majority of the time they end up feeding. Personally I think Caitlyn a fine champion and this long attack range suits her playstyle well, but i also feel there are multiple issues that should be adressed to compensate for these flaws. Because she is a popular pick, leaving her in the state of "get 8 kills by 10 minutes or be fairly useless for the rest of the game" often times only brings frustration to the player and 4 other members of her team.

It would be enough it the red ward could deactivate her traps.

Except she has the highest win ratio of any adc. Your anecdotal evidence is not proof that Caitlyn needs a change. She is very easy to pick up and play.

Yes some people feed and yes she has less escape abilities but who needs to escape when u can just outpoke and outplay?

I see you have raised some valid points but honestly ADC is a hard role to master and it is not at all dominant in the current meta (almost underpowered imho, just look at the buffs riot tried to throw in for ADC in general in Patch 6.11/6.12). Listen to what the casters say at LCS, they say that Mid/jungle are the roles that are most able to carry those high level teams through their games. Low level players lack map awareness and it is very easy to gank them.

Lastly, Caitlyn seems good where she is, I would hate for riot to nerf her instead of buffing the other ADCs because the role is not that well developed in the current meta and creates a very stagnant level of game play where stupid early damage champions like Khazix Rengar and even the occasional Shaco completely blow up/tilt your entire team into feeding/afking/flaming/callingpeopleboostedanimals and generally ruining literally every single game I play.

End rant though. Cait is fine.

Also to help with your frustration, yes, almost every game is lost from bot feeding due to 4 man consta-ganks. Played hundreds of games and that is 100% why games are lost a the pinnacle point of feeding/afk/flamerageclownfiesta. It's the tipping point and if u are a person with a short temper you will get banned if u play bot lane. Gauranteed. So just don't type, snype those who are toxic against u with targeted banning and honour those players who are nice.

Built correctly she does just as much if not more damage than other adc's with good positioning in teamfights. This is why her win rate is so high. Yes, some people can't play her, but these players should not discourage you or you will get 14 day suspension like me.

Meh.

Thing about Cait is, she's pretty flat. She's strong early when her spells and range enable bullying, weak midgame when she's got no items to chew through champs, and strong again in the lategame when everybody's grouped up for teamfights and she has the peel to be able to sit back and use her safety and range to plink away at the enemy team.

And yeah, she's popular. Kind of inordinately so, really. But the key thing to remember is that if your team is bad at peeling/kiting and absorbing dives (which, OP, is most likely the case at your ELO) Cait's not going to be happy. No ADC is, really.

Uhh what?

Her traps are the zoning tool that every team wants, she has reliable dmg if you land her E. I dont know why you'd Q someone with that long ass wind up when you can crit them for double the damage. EVERYTIME I see a Cait lose a trade, it's because she missed her E or tried to ult or Q instead of autoing.

My biggest complaint with her is that she doesn't feel like a sniper. She's billed as a sniper. Her rifle has a scope and she assumes... SOMETHING of a sniper's stance during her ult. But she doesn't FEEL like a sniper. It's not like MOBAs can't create that feel, because HotS's Nova does it fine. She's very squishy, but she has a thin-area skillshot that travels almost instantaneously and disappears after the first enemy hit. She also relies on stealth and misdirection to keep from getting pinned down, as you'd expect from a sniper.

Caitlyn's closest mechanic is her Q, which has one of the wider lines in the game and goes through enemies. Ezreal feels like more of a sniper at that point. They either need to change her aesthetic or tweak her kit, if you ask me.
