DeathCap suggestion

Why don't we make a middle step item for death cap? For example, this can be a hat that can be upgraded by 1250, 850, and 435 gold, which will increase the ap by 60,40, and 20 respectively. The hat itself can be like 500 gold and increase ap by 5 percent so it would worth the gold. After this hat is upgraded 3 times, it can be upgraded again to become death cap by opening additional 1265-500 = 765 gold.

If we do this, it would be easier to buy the item as it requires less amount of gold to spend at once time and filling out only one spot of the item slots.
