So I main Support and I have a sh*t ton of them. I don't play all but am decent with a alot. I need your opinion on which you think is the best when it comes to helping or keeping someone alive. Feel free to mention others not on the poll but the poll is just the ones I'm decent and kinda good with.
Imo Thresh and Alistar are the best all-around supports in terms of utility and play potential. Thresh just trends toward picks a bit more, while Alistar trends toward team fights a bit more. Both have excellent security. I would keep up on both of them and switch between them depending on what your team needs.
That being said, I also think Lulu is the best overall champion in the game due to her balance of utility, flexibility, and damage. She's a great champion to master because you can play her in any lane in almost any comp. So that's kind of a tough one.
The best at keeping a team mate alive has to be Soraka, just listen to what Brokenshard has to say about her:

Imagine every physical and mental disability you can think of. Now put all of those onto one of these cubs. This cub can't walk properly, it can't open one of its eyes It can barely open its mouth, its pretty much mentally ******ed in most ways
By all means, this cub should not survive.
Now, imagine the Lioness does everything in its power to make sure this Lion cub gets to adulthood. Brings it food, literally carries it from place to place, keeps it alive EVEN THOUGH IN EVERY OTHER DIFFERENT SCENARIO this particular cub should die.
Thats what Soraka does.
Soraka LITERALLY disturbs the natural selection by letting literal C L O W N F I E S T A moves go unpunished
She is basically this super-lioness who does everything in its power to let its physically and mentally handicapped cub survive when it NATURALLY probably shouldn't

Imo, by far thresh can save adc's and allies. Zilean after that. Lulu and Alistar are probably tied. The other sups are good but can't save allies as much. Overall, I find thresh the most fun, can save allies best, and has really nice offense too.
