So I have a question about the normals MMR matching system...

From what I have seen (being a mid-range platinum player), I have noticed that when I play norms with friends I REGULARLY get matched with diamond ranked players. Granted, they tend to have a silver or even a bronze but that doesn't make up the difference of skill to be honest. I was wondering why this continues to happen considering NOONE IS DIAMOND in the group of people I am friends with. Anyone have any thoughts? It's getting really un-fun to play league due to always losing because, oh look, ANOTHER DIAMOND. There might even be more than one. It's just growing unfortunate.

More transparency on the MatchMaking would be great :)

Matchmaking uses a separate MMR value in ranked games than in normal games. This, combined with the fact that some players don't play a significant amount of both queues (sticking to one or the other) can cause what appears to be unbalanced matches.

Entering as a premade group can also artificially inflate your MMR for matchmaking due to the presumed advantage of communication and the differences between the MMR of players in the group.

You are not the only one this happens to. I never really bothered playing ranked games past hitting Gold 4 for rewards (didn't want to stay in Gold 5 while I was getting +25 LP per game). However, I am primarily matched with Diamond players in normal games with the occasional Platinum and Master player thrown in and can hold my own (not exactly snowballing, but typically not feeding).

Heck, I think I've been matched with and against about 15 Master players in normal games in the last month or so.

I mean, while I understand that, the problem is that it's inherently a broken system if it places you against higher skilled people just due to the fact that you have a premade. It's one thing if they are an equal premade but their teamwork is better. Losing against an equal is cool with me. Losing to diamonds and masters over and over just makes the game considerably less fun. And this is just normal, where you're SUPPOSED to have fun.
