Ranked Climbing

Id like to preface this by saying I'm not a great player. I'm in silver and I probably belong here, but I've been trying to climb to gold for a long time. Last night I played 8 ranked games and I won 6 and lost the other 2. The reason this is an issue for me is that those 2 losses brought me right back to where I started that night and completely negated my 6 wins. Im just looking for some reasoning behind this and maybe some advice. Thank you.
