Riot's "Placement" System is So, So unbelieveably Bad

I was prepared to not place as high as I finished last season because of the "soft elo reset" but apparently Riot really meant that it was massive because I got placed an entire tier lower for winning about half my games, now if i were to have lost 25 straight games in gold v in the place i was i wouldnt be dropped at all, yet soft elo reset and now im in silver 4? Well im glad i got screwed over by Riots lies or misunderstanding of what they were actually saying, because nothing beats that. Thanks for the lies and the deceit and terrible placement system Riot, really makes me feel good about playing your game when you cant even tell the truth or implement a decent system to place us each year, you ARE the best, totally and sincerely.

That pretty much defines soft elo rest, you lose a couple divisions...

Did you lose first couple games then win? That makes all the difference, saying I won 5/5 means nothing. If you lost your first three your already playing against silvers.

I won my first two and ended 7-3, still lost a considerable amount. I don't think it actually matters what or where you win or lose, you are screwed over either way.

Riot needs to be very specific with these resets instead of vague and in some cases just b.sing cause this wasn't a "soft" reset, this was a "don't care how good you do you are getting kicked lowering just cause"

well i was silver 1 last season and won 8-2. Got placed in Gold 5. Cant complain much. I use to be gold 5 last season but i quit in april, i came back and was in silver 3. Went up to silver 1 in about 2 weeks.

You won half your games? That's amazing....last season, my only win in my promotional games was a lagtastic (and heavily carried) 3/13 Morgana support game. Thank you stupid adcs (for the love of god Twitch don't rush item 3085 and think you can 1v2), stupid laners (seriously, both top and mid need me to gank now? Play safe until my six Amumu ), a fantastic (not) Nasus v Kayle matchup. Boy was it finally a relief to get into Bronze II and then go on a 2 game win streak with Velkoz .

so im bronze 5, go 8-2 in season placement matches... get ranked bronze 5. nice logic riot.. i could have hit bronze 4 with the win streak i just had, but now i played 7 hours to be bronze 5 with 0 points.. appreciate the hope of getting silver. thanks.

Thats basically what happened to me last season, was in silver 4 won 8 out of the 10 placements and get placed in silver 4, like is there just a automated dart throwing machine at riot that determines your placements before you even play them?

I have a friend who had almost the exact situation as you, the problem is that he was tanking Gold V HARD (Losing a lot of MMR by not being able to climb, but since it takes a hellton of games to drop out of a League tier, he remained there) and he got placed in Silver 4, so that's my best guess of what happened, still, I blame the lack of clarity when it comes to Ranked's MMR, as no matter if you're still Gold V, if you keep losing, your MMR keeps dropping and now you felt the impact.

i had made it to gold 4 at one point and to series a couple times since, i was one win away from series again before the reset, but i think the think the thing that is bothering me the most is the lack of clarity of what they are saying, because their definition of soft could be different from everyone elses

I suppose I've seen a completely "soft nerfs" that completely neuter a Champion, so you might be onto something.
