I feel like I get first-pick too often!

I just started my ranked matches for this season, and I feel like I get first or second pick way too often. This happened a lot last season too. First-pick sounds nice but not when you're a main. I get counter picked too often and it gets frustrating when it happens so often. Is there some algorithm behind this? Or am I just unlucky or something?
