Placements Broken Potentionally?

It's clear that everyone and their mother is complaining about Season 6 placements. It was in my mind that the rule was you could only go 2 down/2up from your past season MMR. Personally, I have yet to play my placement games, because I feel like the system might be broken? I've seen numerous friends of mine go from being Plat to placing Silver 3-1... So basically my question here is to the mods that if placements are going to be "fixed" or what's the issue here? Because if this is going to remain, it's pointless for me to even play placements and go bronze potentially. Also I've been looking around at people's placements so you guys should post on this forum what your experience was for example... Plat 1- Silver 1 (7-3)

part of the issue why placements are the way they are is becuase riot realized people were elo boosting causing players in there teams to lose in there current new elo like gold or plat because they shouldnt be there. so this in my opinion which makes sense counters this and yes when a bronze 2 player who won 10 out of 10 gets stuck in bronze 5 for some reason i really dont get that one how ever other people being dropped so what. i was in s and got dropped to bronze 5 grant it lol i went 1 and 9 not becuase of me hell my kda average for most of my promos were 15 and 4 so i dunno. but im climbing out so im not complaining. i dont say anythign to any one and my team does liekwise and so far i havent lost

I agree, it's good for everyone to be much lower. Makes all of those who paid for boosts feel like suckers.

Diamond last season. Went 7-3, got placed Plat 1 (highest possible placement)

Worked fine for me

I wonder if decay plays a part in mmr drop, I thought it didn't but after taking a break for a few months after getting Plat 3 I decayed down to Plat 5 when the season ended. Just finished placements now and went 7-3 and got placed in G5. Mind you I mainly solo que in ranked. But I thought that was a big drop considering all the players I was playing with in placements were plat 3 and 4 last season =(
