Twisted Treeline 9.7 Ghost Poro Changes

In Twisted Treeline, the only semblance of a ward came from the ghost poro rune, which in high level play was standard on all junglers. In patch 9.7, taking away the original function of the ghost poro and having it come from the death of a ward makes it comepletely useless in TT and now takes away wards completely from the game. If RIOT were to do this on purpose, you would think they would at least reduce the cooldown of the trinket...its like 75 seconds or something right now. This means if you don't have lane priority you can't even check your own jungle bush by the health relic, as you will likely be dead. How is that even fun? Riot, I am asking as someone who only plays twisted treeline - and for everyone in our small community - please give something that allows vision so people aren't forced to pick/ban maoki every game. OR, for someone to pick teemo thinking its a good pick. Anyone who plays twisted treeline please get this to the right people who need to see this so we can see our bushes at a relative consistency.

Any kind of vision always helps on 3v3, as even the slightest mis-step often equals death. Sometimes you can do everything right and still die due to the lack of vision and the enemy comp having a more cheesy early game.

Yea--to not even mention its effect on TT in the patch notes tells me that while formulating these changes they didn't even consider the implications for Twisted Treeline.

Sad day. I'm a sole TT player, and this completely changed the meta. Champs without vision just got a lot crappier.

Sooo, I know no at Riot gives a **** about 3v3s, but like, goddamn this was such a huge change to the meta and they didn't even address it. Makes me feel like they're gonna kill it like Dominion. Plus, like said above, makes the banning of certain champions almost necessary and just kind of stale.

I'm sure they have their hands full with everyone whining about buffs and nerfs each week, but this one just really hurt.

Totally agree. God, Im tilted.

And the fact that they didnt even mention in the patch, the implications this could have for 3v3... Lmao, they dont even think of 3v3.

While I certainly agree that Ghost Poro's rework is a significant change to TT's meta, I don't quite understand how it's necessarily a bad thing. Players seemed to be okay with the lack of vision prior to Ghost Poro's introduction last season. Before that, Quill Coat was the only other ward-esque thing to exist on the map, and that seemed like it was universally disliked.

A fair point. I think the reaction this is getting is more towards Riot's complete lack of attention to its effect on our beloved TT. I played a SR earlier, and was reminded why I don't like that map. So, I'll be learning the new poro-less meta with everyone else.

i wish twisted treeliines was more competitive my new friends jump straight into it at lv.7 and get slaughtered by lv.20s or premaded smurfs, this map needs to be updated more frequently

Honestly though, how many people actually play Twisted Treeline enough to care? I can see them just replacing it with Nexus Blitz and most people would probably be fine with that.

^ Stupid comment, allow me to say... A LOT of players enjoy 3v3, even more than 5v5.

I play 3v3. I love 3v3. if I play 3v3, IT'S ALWAYS gonna be ranked. I like it because I can play with 2 friends (Rather than finding more for solo q or flex where we depend on others and it can potentially ruin our game and tilt us) and we both either win or lose together. It's easier to carry. You're less likely to see a teammate flame in 3v3. Games feel less aggravating, it's a new exciting environment and the darker tone of the map makes it easier on my eyes.

Exactly! Well put.

Couple thing I'd add is that I like TT because the game feels like it starts as a team game. I've never enjoyed feeling like i'm on an island for 20 minutes in SR. From level 1 teamplay is crucial in TT, and that's what me and my buddies prefer. Also TT has strats specific to that map--things like lane swapping. Having a tough time in a lane in SR? You're on your own.

You get a free ward for 30 s with saplings, he can just ult rfom the jungle and it will take the whole lane so basically will get rooted anyway + tanks with a lot of cc are really strong in TT. Usually if you play some hypercarry (Yasuo, Olaf, Master yi) with a tank/support (poppy is S tier, maokai, volibear, amumu, rammus) and a mage/support (Zilean is the best, Brand, Fiddle) and you are just feeding the carry, + making sure he stays alive you won the game.

We just played with Yasuo/Master Yi/Volibear as hyper carry. Poppy/Taric/Maokai/ Nautilus as a support. Zilean as a mage we won 17 games in a row. Just because they werent able to kill me, and if they did, Zilean just ulted me.

I don't like the Ghost Poro change at all and I haven't even been playing TT lately.

I don't know what else they could have done to give it the same adaptive force as the others and make it fair, but I honestly feel like the rune was fine as it was and didn't need to be changed. The rune I never took was Zombie Ward and now that's probably the only one I'll be taking. The new Ghost Poro is horrible. Especially because the new Zombie Ward exists, but also because the old one was what players wanted! Half the time the only reason it wasn't taken was because other runes were more valuable and this guy was in the middle of the Domination tree. Maybe they'll bring it back on the Inspiration tree or one of the others.
