No More PvE?

First up, please don't ignore me Riot. If you read this please look at the effort I've put into this post and give me some response.

About me: I have been playing league since season 1. I have 4102 hours of league I was in the top 10 most hours spent on league last year but I haven't been playing very regularly anymore. I had insane amounts of fun playing the Star Guardian Game Mode when it was released on 25 September 2017. And when Odyssey was released on the 12th of September I was not disappointed, when I saw the announcement on Facebook I had never been more excited, that much excitement is a feeling I had never felt before. Side-note: The missions made it 10x more enjoyable. I realized that they were both released in September and being the optimistic person I am, I assumed that there would be another PvE game-mode.

THEN!!!!

I was reading your "State of Game Modes" post (https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-au/2019/07/dev-state-of-modes/) and I got the impression that there will be no more PvE game modes coming to league any time soon. Needless to say I was very, extremely, massively disappointed.

I immediately went to my league group chat (remember the tribe system Riot created to make league feel more like a community for people? Yes, it has a use - to unite PvE lovers and strategize how we are going to win without a Sona or Ziggs and only 1 Jinx) to tell them the bad news.

This leads me to another point. THE COMMUNITY, there's nothing that unites players like a PvE game where you work together to achieve these goals, if you fail, you fail together and thus, learn together. Never had I experienced this making friends on league before until these game modes.

PLEASE RIOT give me an answer. This has really upset me, what do I look forward to now? [zombie-nunu-tears] I pray you surprise me with something :3. I still love you but I am just disappointed right now.

Yes, I'm very sorry about that, too. I thought that Odyssey was universally enjoyed, and was looking forward to a PvE this fall. Even if they just brought Odyssey back....

I'm pretty sure that everybody feels the same, but they missed the news buried in that article. Almost every week, somebody posts asking for another Odyssey / SG event.

I didn't notice it myself, the first two times that I read the article; I was devastated about 3v3.

What they're saying is in the article is, due to their "rapid development cycles of RGMs (Revenue Growth Management)" they have to code the game fast which makes it insanely buggy.

And because they're so focused on making a profit, they don't take the time to keep a well structured and documented game code for other game modes to work, which explains why Twisted Treeline (3v3) is going to the chopping block soon.

I don't know what they're thinking. I can think of a few reasons why they're in this mess:

  • The division responsable for making money made cuts for developpers leaving them with shorter deadlines

  • TFT require resources that were taken from LoL, now LoL gets nowhere near the same attention as it used to

  • They are writting code from the ground up to support a very large player base since the fails of Clash made them realise it needs changing

  • They planning on dumping LoL as a "completed game" and only make small changes and new skins line from now on; upon seeing that the new player base is dying

Other theories can be added, but ultimately, not taking care of the code for profit is a terrible idea in the long run so either they're planning on rewriting a fresh game code or they're planning on ignoring the issue. Since they announced no more PvE I can only imagine the latter option is what they went with, which means we'll be seeing more and more bugs, less game modes and mostly frequent minor changes.

I feel you dude, I was only a new player here, started playing at October 2018 on 1st acc, and heard that there was going to be a SG event this year. I was kinda disappointed that I didn't get to experience playing any PvE, I only get to experience URF, and the last year's christmas event during Winter Wonder (forgot its name tho). I do hope that they bring those back since there were new players coming to play but only few.

Btw, is it true that the resources for this PvE disappeared? Been hearing it a lot recently_
