Alistar Build Help

Ive been playing Alistair and had a question about his build. i build with Talisman of ascension first so as not to risk taking shots from the ranged. Plus the speed boost active helps your team/adc initiate when I have ult/run the hell away when i don't. And that 20 movement speed and mana regen. Boots i build boots of swiftness with the speed enhance enchantment. I like to build frozen mallet first (mostly) or second because any boost to his attack boosts his ult damage. Guardian angel is an item i build second (sometimes first if apc looks fed) b/c for the tankiness and the revive will put you back with your combo back up in a long team fight. Then static shiv and infinity edge at the end b/c my ult is usually up for team fights that happen towards the end and i can take out squishes. My first post so just asking for some feed back. Not a whole lot of guides on ali right now so i figured I might try here. Should i drop guardian for something better? Ill build towards fed adc/apc accordingly but this is the build i use most games. I'm a noob obviously but trying to get better. I like to help initiate in a team fight or peel for adc if I'm behind. Im thinking rylas would be a much better choice than guardian to boost up damage.

Tis a nice day2 votes

As long as you get 40% CDR and enough tankiness to not get gibbed without your ult, you can build whatever you want.

What he said. You are the initiator; you want maxed CDR+enough tankiness to make them regret trying to kill you even without an ult. Good items would include Frozen Heart (gives lots of mana to help his mana problems, plenty of armor, and 20% CDR!), spirit visage could work (would slightly increase his heal while giving CDR), etc. You can always get 10% from runes if you don't feel there's enough items you want to get 40% CDR. I've seen people run Gauntlet on him-a nice way to add more CC+CDR+some damage.

The build is not bad, but it seems a bit off target.

Talisman and Swiftness is exactly the right start for support Alistar, it's the same I use. (Targon is better on other tanks)

However the rest of your build is as if you were playing toplane. It's not exactly wrong, especially when you have a squishy toplaner, but as Support you should have a different focus.

The biggest point: you have six items and never mention a sightstone. that's an absolute no go for supports (unless they have build in vision) personally I even use it on toplane too.

If you think you should be executing squishies, take Triforce, the stats are better for Alistar and the spellblades should actually do more than crit. Alternatively Iceborn Gauntlet, less direct damage, but more AoE, also defense and CC.

You idea with Rylais is a good one too, with it you headbutt can actually be used as a gapcloser.

Ardent Censer is almost a must on Alistar, it's a near constant AS buff to everyone including minions. Add to that Banner of Command and Ohmwrecker and you can Solo the enemy base.
