The Effects of the Sterak's Change on a Selection of Bruisers

The effects of the Sterak's change on a selection of Tri-Force bruisers. For Lolalytics see the note at the bottom of the post for why I am not taking into account the data point for the current day. I trust OP.GG less than Lolalytics because it only considers data from one region and does not specify the time range over which it gathers the data. OP.GG could only be giving the data from the first couple of hours of the patch for all we know.

Irelia: On Lolalytics she went from ~50.5% before the patch to ~49.5% after. On OP.GG she went from 51.5% before the patch to 49.6% after.

Camille: On Lolalytics she went from ~51.2% before the patch to still ~51.2% after. The only effect seen on Camille on Lolalytics is her pick rate dropping by 0.5 percentage points. On OP.GG she went from 52.4% to 50.8%.

Jax: On Lolalytics he went from ~49.3% to ~49.3%. On OP.GG he went from 51.0% to 49.9%

Yorick: On Lolalytics he went from ~50.5% to 52.4%. On OP.GG he went from 49.7% to 56.2%. (56.2% winrate for Yorick, really?)

Gangplank: On Lolalytics he went from ~49.5% to ~49.4%. On OP.GG he went from 50.8% to 51.7%

Well, those are the core Tri-Force bruisers of top lane, the top lane champions who'd go Tri-Force no matter what. What about some other champions, the sort of champions people said were only going Tri-Force Steraks because of how strong it is and would switch back to Black Cleaver after the Steraks change.

Darius: On Lolalytics he went from ~50% to 49.5%. If you look at the Lolalytics stats for the current patch only Darius still has a higher winrate with Tri-Force first item (54.1%) compared to Black Cleaver (49.8%). On OP.GG he went from 50.2% to 48.1%

Fiora: On Lolalytics she went from 48.6% to 48.9%. On OP.GG she went from 48.5% to 47.8%

Conclusion So going off the Lolalytics stats Irelia is hurt by the Steraks change and hurt more than any other builder of Tri-Force Steraks. Everone else has seen no real change to their strength except for Darius dropping 0.5 percentage points and Yorick who with a 2 percentage point increase gained far more from the compensation than he lost from Steraks. (Going off the OP.GG stats Yorick is broken as fuck and needs hotfix nerfed :P So lets not pay close attention to OP.GG and their single region unspecified timescale data set)

N.B. Lolalytics stats for the day are often inaccurate. An example can be seen with the winrate of the reworked Irelia. On the day of the 8.7 patch people cited her as having a 53% winrate based off of Lolalytics (it has to be off Lolalytics as it the only analytics site that gives champion stats on the day, OP.GG only updates its stats with stats for the current patch a few days after the patch). However if you look at the graphs a few days later they do not show Irelia with a 53% winrate on the 4th April (the day of the patch containing her rework) because if you're giving the winrate for the current day you obviously don't have the stats for the entire day, only a couple of hours and so don't have a fully accurate data set. You can see that in the lower of the two images I linked to in the album where the Diamond stats for the day I screenshoted the graphs are completly above what you whould expect. Indeed, the graph the next day has the Diamond April 9th data point nowhere near the outlier on the other graph.

Steraks/Trinity synergy was so OP even on Old irelia when it comes to bursting. But when are riot going to admit that Conqueror is a stupid keystone.

Oh so people cry out for a bruiser keystone and when they get one they want it removed. ok.

Your "bruiser" keystone is picked more often by melee carries like Master Yi, Fiora, Yasuo and Tryndamere, who deal absurd amounts of Damage even without conqueror.

And I would argue that Conqueror didn't help the whole Bruiser class. Most of the Bruisers who use it are Divers, a class that already could use Grasp or Aftershock. Juggernauts, the immobile Damage focused version of bruisers, lacked any real Keystone to work with them.

Grasp and Conqueror are difficult to proc on opponents that kite you. Aftershock requires at least one Hard CC ability in your kit and, sometimes, is not that great.

Out of the whole list of Bruisers presented by the OP, only Irelia, Camille and Jax have Conqueror as their main Keystone and all 3 of them are Bursty Mobile Champions who build Trinity-Steraks to murder anyone in their sight.

I'm not sure that Camille takes conqueror due to her large true damage second cast q and I think this is the same case with Fiora, she doesn't need the true damage because she's already dealing mostly true damage in the first place with vitals.

Didn't help the bruiser class? Lmao if that were the case then tanks still would've been meta and we would've still had champions like Aatrox, Fiora, Irelia and other Conqueror users in garbage tier. Except that Irelia is overtuned but that's another story.

The problem is that having a keystone that converts a % of your lost dmg in true dmg is stupid in the first place. You dont need rocket science to know that. Sadly conqueror is the only "true" fighter keystone, why bother changing it when fighters need a whole new tree. And Conqueror is also good on champs with %dmg like Shen or Red Kayn. If you go Conqueror on shen your Q dosent tickle the enemy it melts targets. The problem is why bother getting a black cleaver when you can just go Conqueror.

Fighters don't need another tree. They use both tank's and carry's runes because they have both HP and damage. That's why almost every fighter takes precision and resolve no matter which one is primary and which one is secondary tree?

Yes as a fighter i want to have AS and HP rather than HP and DMG lol.

Yorick got a big jump, wondering if it's mostly because of his ghouls updating ad. Do you know the most popular build for him now? I think people are all over the place with a combination of triforce, cleaver, and death's dance for a core.

Q cooldown buff might've been over the top but I guess there's not that much data for yorick yet.

But wait a moment, if you call for nerfs on yorick realize that it's conqueror building his winrate. So when riot nerfs conqueror...

I wouldn´t really count on that winrate, let´s wait a few days and see how it changes :)

I also have no Idea what to build :D

Winrates are a poor way off assesing the impact of the Steraks changes for those champs, as the patch changed A LOT more than just steraks and the winrates are influenced by all the stuff.

Yorik for example got a decent buff with Q cd and the higher update rate on his minions(important with conqueror), aswell as the meta favouring strong lanening picks and splitpush in the top, which fits very well for yorik.

If you really want to know how the change impacted trinity users, you have to look at how much damage old steraks gave to their combos through trinity and how much they now get through bonus ad ratios. Again with Yorik as example, he gains nothing from the bonus ad as all his ratios are total-ad and thus already profited from steraks, while he looses 62 – 147 damage on each trinity proc, so on on every Q.

For camille, she'd usually get two trinity procs each combo with one beeing truedamage, so she looses 68 – 127.5 physical- + 68 – 127.5 True-damage from trinity while gaining up to ~25(Q1) + ~48(E) + ~38(W) + ~2.1% HP(W-edge) = ~111+2.1%-HP as physical damage and ~51 truedamage from bonus ad ratios, so depenfing on the targets maxhealth roughly the same physical as befor in a full combo, but much less truedamage gained than befor with steraks.

Roughly all users of the combo lost atleast some damage and all juggernauts lost quite a bit damage if they went for trinity+sterak...
