Why autofill being enabled in low elo SoloQ is a problem. (Poll included)
Now, before you downvote and comment with the counterpoint of "Just learn to play every role at a basic level and you'll do fine" please hear out my argument. I'll get to countering this point (which I have seen several times in the boards now) in the argument.
Why is autofill a bad idea in low elo SoloQ? The main reason that autofill is a problem is because with the current state LoL is in (and has been for awhile now) you have to HARD carry if you want to climb in low elo. Ask anybody that has climbed up the SoloQ ladder in the bronze-platinum brackets. Soft-carrying through methods like making the correct plays in teamfights, winning lane, warding at critical points/positions, etc. will not get you very far currently in low elo SoloQ. I know because I tried climbing via these methods the past two seasons and got stuck in low/mid silver with a sub-50% win rate both times. For the current low elo SoloQ, you have to grab games by the balls and squeeze them without letting up until the game is over if you want to reliably win games. You CANNOT rely on your team to carry you, or even to make competent decisions in most cases.
Now what does this have to do with autofill? Autofill dictates that at least 10% of the time, you will have to play a role you didn't queue for. Here comes the argument of "Just learn to play every role at a basic level (or at least a level roughly equivalent to your elo) and you'll climb eventually!" This isn't a viable solution to climb at lower elos. The reason for this is that most people won't (and shouldn't, unless they play LoL a substantial amount on a regular basis) practice their "autofill roles" nearly as hard as they practice their main and secondary roles, so it's nearly impossible to hard-carry games from these roles. This can pose a problem at low elos, especially when you already have to deal with feeders, flamers, trolls, smurfs, and afks on a regular basis. It's hard enough to hard-carry a team on your main role, much less on a role you haven't practiced as well!
Additionally, autofill was first called for by people at high elo to combat long queue times that come with being near or at the top of the ladder. Since we low elo scrubs didn't call for it, why do we have to have it be mandatory for us also? Please disable it for those of us who didn't call for, nor want it. Going from a 5 minute queue to 3 minute queue isn't worth losing some games solely because you got autofilled into a role you couldn't hard-carry the game from. I'm not even going to get into the point about all the dodges due to being autofilled increasing queue times because that's a whole different topic.
These are my thoughts and reasoning based on my experience as a silver-level player using the autofill system, and testimonies from other players who have climbed SoloQ in the past.
Side note: Hopefully now that I have come to the realization about having to hard-carry low elo ranked games (and not blindly following my team around on autopilot), I can finally climb out of silver.
