This is how events should be like

Is it just me, or do you think this is normally how events should be like?

The amount of rewards we got for this 10th anniversary event is astounding. This is what makes it fun to grind out these events, even though they're just "play 1 game". If they were even harder and longer, I'd still go for it.

Way better than grinding 3 weeks just to open 1 shitty skin orb. I know they don't do this because money, but I just feel cheated. There should be more reward for other events they have in the distant future.

Never have I ever been so excited to play this game. This is what makes the game fun imo.

Just make the missions longer and give us rewards like these. This is how a f2p game should be!

Yeah you'd think 'events' would be rewarding and encouraging to play

but instead prestige skins are paid for instead of earned which kinda sucks

yet if people get more and more free stuff they still wont be happy.

hence all they crying over the victorious skin

nah, this is how a 10 year anniversary event should be, no regular event should be giving away up to 6 free skins and 2 free gemstones.

a free to play game ain't gonna fund itself if they give everything away.

The last 3 seasons they've been giving so much free stuff and y'all only complained about how greedy they are more. no money no game, it's as simple as that. ain't noone at riot gonna keep making the game without being paid.

this post just comes of as entitled or naive. then again that's not new for this place.

I feel like as far as standard events go, the bar is set REALLY high by this one, but I could do with a watered down version of it at least. Here'd be my payout for Event Passes that mirror this:

1: Event Icon 2: 500 Blue Essence 3: Event Emote 4: 200 Orange Essence 5: 100 Event Tokens 6: Hextech Box 7: Event Ward Skin 8: 200 Event Tokens 9: 25 Prestige Points 10: Event Prestige Skin

Events should be something like the Demacia vs Noxus event where you could get invested and involved.

There should be endless missions, none of this EA level bull shit of getting a few missions a day, I want to grind that shit.

And lastly, they should make it so you actually get rewarded for what you do. The systems that make me play the hardest are the ones that reward me for my efforts. MW2 you could go for titles and emblems, challenges, accolades, weapon skins, etc... and these things pushed me outside my comfort zone and made me do things I would never have done. Getting the EMP emblem that spun was one of my greatest achievements in that game to this day and nothing in League has ever come close to that feeling of achievement.

Event specific skins that you can't just buy/unlock later on. What happened to the days of rare skins?

Someone has the King Rammus skin and I sit there amazed, but now I see someone with Hextech Annie and i'm like "oh wow cool they spent money".

There are something like 1000 icons in the game, around 80 emotes, a fuckton of chromas, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if little legends hit those numbers before a year has passed since it's release. Stop just spam adding these things with 0 value to people, we don't care about your "SPECIAL EVENT EXTREMELY RARE ICON" that you try and pass as a reward every time.

6 free skins and people are still finding ways to complain, easily 50+ dollars worth of stuff and they always seem to want more. This is a one-off 10th anniversary, most of the games you can just queue for TFT and go AFK and surrender at 3-4. I did this across 6-7 accounts lol.

What event? There are only (pretty good) rewards, BUT once in a lifetime and without any special mission or mode.

This is not an event, it's a one-time giveaway.

I think the annie skin is probably one of the best skins they've made. And it makes me sad that everyone and their dog complains when I try to do Annie support.

I really don't even consider this an event. The rewards are ok, maybe even good, locked behind the same exact quest system we've had for months now. There are some flashy animations are first spawn on the rift, and some splash art changes?

That's pretty boring and simple IMO.

I concur. For me the thing that makes me excited for events (especially holidays like Halloween and Christmas):

  1. Skins of course, as this years Halloween skins are awesome

  2. Map Appearances: Blood Moon Map, Winter Map (Christmas), Spooky Map (Halloween) for Summoners Rift and maybe in the future other maps. These appearances make it feel like I am engaging in the holiday or event full time with other ppl. Its the same thing as decorating your house for a party or holiday vs leaving your house like it normally is. Decorating is one of my passions and to see it in LoL makes me very happy.

  3. Missions: the anniversary chain missions were fun. The mission last year for the cool kitty icons and stuff for Halloween were a blast combined with the above.

  4. Special Modes: Blood Moon (one of my favorite skin lines), Project, Odyssey, and of course Halloween and Christmas modes (Doom Bots of Doom really puts me in a spooky mood so im sad its not here this year, and maybe a winter mode for Xmas with only icy champions).

These are the four things needed to make a great event. Numbers 1 and 3 are pretty much a given, but 2 and 4 I hope are done more regularly, especially if visual/map/mode assets are kept and then just reused or tweaked a bit each year. Riot has plans to increase event sizes in 2020 so I look forward to it. For now, at least make up for the lack of any Halloween event by making a big Christmas Event with missions to obtain chromas, winter skins from the past, and new icons. Holiday icons are awesome. (As you can tell the Holiday events are my favorites, including Cats vs Dogs april fools which was awesome as i love dogs and cats.).

Thats my 2 (more like 50) cents.

No, I don’t think every event should be like this. It’s a special okay so that’s why we got this much free stuff. And don’t even say it was a grind.

A good event is like how odyssey was. It was generous with rewards but not so much and we actually had a grind.

There was an event called the Year Beast in dota 2 where you spent points you accumulated by getting objectives on a sort of permanent rift herald which got stronger the more points you put into it. The thing is each player on the winning team received a free skin set. Each game was extremely intense and when I think of an engaging moba experience this comes to mind for sure.

Events used to be a lot kooler in league back in the old days. But as Riot became more and more prioritized with cash over satisfaction, well, we see what we see. It's all about the dollars these days

Wayward Fish10/29/2019, 10:04:51 PM2 votes

It's a free game. If Riot gave out this amount of free stuff and made a special skin for every event, when they host like 8-10 a year, they wouldn't be able to keep the game free.

Buy content if you want it. Don't buy the content if you don't. There's a reason that games don't hand out all their content for free.

Pandemic Punch10/30/2019, 8:28:53 AM1 votes

This is the argument I made as well. I think normal events should be like this and the 10th anniversary probably should have been a bit more significant.

ModCaliCoastReplay10/29/2019, 7:58:05 AM1 votes

I think if they give this much dosh away all the time hardly anyone will buy anything, but a few more "grand feasts" per decade wouldn't hurt.

Certainly an expanded holiday celebration every year with free stuff and discounts for gifts would be a great idea, and doing something like this every five years instead of every ten would feel pretty joyous to me!
